Help with SI

Bought SI yesterday and the installation went through perfectly on Cubase SE3. Dropping the patterns into Cubase works like a breeze. Everything works fine...except I'm having problems triggering patterns using midi notes. I seem to be able to trigger any pattern in Pad 1 but that's it (yes I am using the suggested midi notes and the play transport is set to sync). In this instance, the pattern starts even before the note is triggered. The help file is not that helpful on this issue.

Also, am I able to create new drum sets using my own samples?

I'm just learning the software myself but it looks like the product is similar to Session Drummer 2. That would mean that it's using the SFZ format. Do a Google search for "SFZ" and you will see the specifications of creating sample sets in that format. It is totally doable if you are into that sort of thing.

I'm familiar with the SFZ format - use it all the time. The problem is getting SI to recognise the SFZ kit and I suspect this has something to do with the PROG and LST files.

Use F5 to refresh the list. (At least it works for the grooves)

I'm assuming that this would be in stand alone mode?

Many thanks for the tip on using F5 to refresh the patterns list. It works in stand alone mode and carrys over the new patterns to the plug-in. So if anyone is having problems using F5 while in their VST host, I would suggest loading patterns in stand alone mode first.

Regarding new kits, from what I can see, you can make new kits by creating SFZs for each grouping - kicks, toms, snares, hats, etc. But then these SFZs cannot be loaded without creatings PROG files for them - and here lies the problem, you cannot create PROG files with SI. I'm thinking that this is a natural limitation of SI considering the market it is aimed at. Oh well.

I works inside of SONAR too. You have to allow the keystrokes to be passed to the plugin via the button at the top left corner. I'm not familiar with how you would accomplish that in Cubase.
