Help with V-Vocals
Hi. I'm using Sonar Cakewalk Producer X1b build242 (which I think was the latest patch but someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I turned a raw vocal track into a V-Vocal. The track turned green, and the V-vocal window popped up. If I toggle bypass on and off I can't hear any real effect, and I don't see any place to click for presets (which I thought they had before the X1b patch, though I might be mixing this up with a Vx64 Vocal Strip effect). So, does the Bypass Button in the top left toggle the V-Vocal 'effect' on and off? And are there presets? Any idea why I'm not hearing changes? The Visual display for V-Vocal shows lots of activity, so assumedly I should hear a difference. Thanks for any help.

No, there aren't any presets, and by the very nature of vocals - there can't be! The reason you're not hearing any changes is because you haven't done any processing on them yet! When you say the Visual Display for V-Vocal - this is just a representation of the actual recorded vocal ine. It will stay exactly the same until you start nudging 'wrong' notes to their 'correct' pitch (or time, or formant) And yes, the bypass button will toggle the effect of V-V on/off. This should help: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2276613&high=v-vocal

much thanks for the response and the link - very informative. I was definitely about to fall into that fixing what ain't broken category. I thought V-vocals was for overall enhancement of most vocal treacks, not just pitch correction. Think I had it confused with the Vx64 Vocal Strip audio effect.

Ah - well the Vocal Strip does contain presets which can be a good starting point for getting your vocal tracks to sound 'good' (whatever 'good' is) Just remember they're a starting point only, and especicially with dynamics processors like compressors, they will definitely need to be adjusted to suit YOUR particular track(s).

Haven't tried V-Vocal yet, but will say that I always found the TC-Helicon VoiceWorks presets as excellent starting points. (Example: I usually take their Sfot Correct and make it harder--in other words, widen the correction window.) I am really looking forward to getting into V-Vocal so I hope to see a lot of discussion on this forum.
