Help with converting midi to audio!

Hi all
I've just purchased a copy of x1 essential so I'm new to the forum.

What I'm trying to do is convert midi tracks to audio tracks using the soft synths

EG.
I loaded a (pre-made) midi file with just 2 tracks (Bass & Drums) into X1. I inserted 2 soft synths SI-Bass Guitar 1 & SI-Drum Kit1.
I have the midi tracks assigned to the soft synths (track 2 is playing thru SI-Bass Guitar and track 10 thru SI-Drum Kit 1)
All's fine but how do i now convert the soft - synth tracks (ie the bass & drums) to audio and export as wav file?

I've been trying to follow the manual and it says either 1) to bounce the soft synth tracks to an audio channel. But I dont get the option to bounce tracks (it's greyed out) or 2) to export the soft synth track as audio but this option is greyed out also!

Please help!

Bren

The easiest option is likely to use the Freeze function the * in the track header between the W and the A.  That will convert your midi input into an audio track.

EW (Platinum Orchestra, Hollywood Strings, Pianos, Gypsy, Fab 4, Ministry of Rock,Choirs, etc)

You don't even need to bounce in order to export the audio. The soft synths audio gets exported equally well without bouncing, expecting the project is not so big that ytou need to bounce or freeze to save CPU.

Select both the MIDI- and audio tracks or neither. Selecting nothing is equal to selecting all when exporting.

It's a good habit to route all audio via a Master Bus. It makes controlling everything much easier when projects get bigger.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    Guys thanks for the replies.

    Lorneyb2: The freeze option worked!

Kalle & Worstcaseontario: I tried selecting synth & midi (and also selecting nothing) and exporting but i got an error to say there is no audio to export!
This was before i freezed the tracks I can export after freezing

you can't export audio till you bounce to track.  in dropdown menu in track view choose tracks- bounce to track.  you do need to have both midi and audio track selected.  then you can choose the audio file created and export it......
