Help with m-audio fast track ultra
Hi, This M-Audio can run multiple mic inputs. I want to input four mics to four separate tracks for the drumstick. (Have dual core, 8G RAM). In Sonar, when I go to input, I'm given the choose of inputs 1,2 left, 1,2 right, 1,2 stereo, and then the same for 3,4 combo. But I don't see an input option for 1,2,3,4 - to recode 4 mic trax simultaneously. I'd be grateful if an expert out there can advise me on how to configure to set this. It's Sonar X1. Thx, Dave

I am a bit tired and a few beers in but.. 1,2 left is probably mono input 1 1,2 right is probably mono input 2 3,4 left is probably mono input 3 3,4 right is probably mono input 4 You need to make 4 audio tracks and set the inputs as above to record from all four separately. Arm them all to record and see what you get. Hope this sort of helps

You've got 1 left, 2 right, 3 left and 4 right. Open up 4 tracks and do that set up and you're sorted - 1,2,3&4.

Yeh thats a function of MAudio. I dont use the stereo for tracking myself, I prefer the mono inputs Use 1 Left for Ch/Track 1 1 Right for Ch 2 3 Left for Ch 3 3 Right for Ch 4 This will give you 4 mono tracks

Ok I see. So I haven't fingered out how to setup the input per each track. I just see on the left most pane, on the bottom, the "input" scroll bar - which doesn't distinguish by track - just generally. Thx very much. Your comment on handsomeness is most likly just coincidental to your beers.

Are you talking in Sonar Track View or Maudio? For the Track Input in sonar, Use MAudios 1 L for one Track, 1 R for the next track etc....

Mike where in the track window do you pull up that scroll bar to come up. I haven't seen that yet, that's my problem.

ou have to drag down the lower edge of the track at the left to expose all the pans, gains, INs, OUTs, etc... I find it easier to do from console view as in the pic. At the lower portion you will see just under the IN/OUT 2 buttons. One (the Upper) will most likely say" None" if you havent changed anything yet. Click on it and you should she exactly what is in the pic above

Wasn't there just a big long thread about this yesterday. After a few visits to that list you get used to the mass confusion of it all and it's not such a big deal. Just remember odd is left and even is right. Stereo is if you pair those 2 together and I guess it would record as a stereo linked track? Never used it. Even if I need a stereo track I'll still record them as 2 mono's, a left over from tape recorder days I guess. All multi channel interfaces look something like that in All DAWs from what I've read. Seems Sonars function to re name the inputs is not a slick as others or so says the man in yesterdays thread.

wet wonder - what you may be missing is that the default template has a "CUSTOM" view. notice in mike's picture above where it says "ALL" - that's where on the default template it will say "CUSTOM". pull that menu down and change it to "ALL" and then you'll have the INPUT pull down menu available.

I don't understand why cake chose to make the default template a custom view where you can't choose the I/O. doesn't make sense to me.
