Help with session drummer

I created a drum pattern with step sequencer. I'm solo'ing each part in the sessiondrummer mixer and bouncing to the respective tracks. The only drum parts that won't bounce correctly is the kick and hi hat. After bounce many kick /hi hat hit are missing. I don't what else to do to get these two parts to bounce correctly. All the other parts bounced fine. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks Alex. I know about the different ways to setup session drumer, the problem is it's not bouncing all the midi to audio on the kick and hi hat so on the bounced track there are missing parts. It won't bounce all the parts.

Somebody will probably come up with a better suggestions than these, anyway....

Have you tried changing the sound to see if it works (say to a sound that previously worked)  - just to see if it's the sound itself is at fault?

Maybe copying/pasting the session drummer track into a new project to see if a bounce works in that project, in case the original project is corrupted....

That's all I can think of...

I've run in to this too Bob.

One thing you can try to do is raise your Midi Playback buffers.

Go in to Preferences, Midi, Playback And Recording, and raise your buffers there. Apply, exit Sonar, and restart it.

The other thing you may have to do is a live bounce. I had a couple projects that no matter what I did every other beat of the Hi-Hat would be skipped.

Another tip for freezing Session Drummer 3 is, go in to the Mixer in SD3. See the icons of the drums/cymbals/touchpad ... right click on the ones you are not using and select 'Unload'. Those will be skipped when you freeze or bounce. Otherwise, all 12 tracks will go through the process of being frozen, even if they aren't being used.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. None of them worked unfortuanately. I didn't try putting it in a new project yet. I really shouldn't have to go thrugh all this for a simple task.

freeze the tracks, then physicaly copy those tracks to another track,un freeze the tracks and delete the synth but keep your midi track.(thats not hurting anything).

when you freeze a track are you still missing kicks,EXC. ?

if your cpu gets bogged down your midi will miss note
are saying you bounced each clip or frezzing them
i always frezze the synth tracks when there tweeked as practice
and if so frezze the main session drummer track it should frezze them all
work well since i create a new audio track for bass and snare and send SD to those tracks keeping them all in 1 track folder so i frezze the intire kit .
bouncing a clip is only useful for things like vvocal and such.
just a shot in the nightlighness
i get this on large projects. when im running 20 synths,or more. this is the only way to get there sounds right

What did you set the "Playback Prepare buffers" in Edit > Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording? It should be at least 500ms.

I had set my midi playback buffers to 512. This is not a full project. I'm working on a new song and am just recording  idea's and I'm using session drummer to work out drum parts that I will actually play when I have the arrangement down. Same with bass guitar, guitar etc. so there are no plugins or anything to cause issues. Frustrating to say the least and failure of simple functions have been typical for me with X2 as i am a simple user of this product. I find Sonar very easy to use and like the new look and work flow but what good is it when simple functions fail and your at a stand still. It's a shame.

I still have the small project it happened to me on. I gave up on it, but I'm the type that can't bring myself to delete anything so I still have it.

    It consisted of 1 guitar, 1 bass, 1 kick, 1 snare, and 1 hi-hat.

I never could get the hi-hat to work. It would just not trigger on every other beat. The only thing I could do was to export the track in real time (not fast bounce) and select 'audible bounce'. Then it would work.

Sometimes it just happens ... :(

BTW ... quick OT question ... how do you like that HS10W Sub? I have a pair of the 80M's and was thinking of getting the matching sub.

    512?
That number is likely to be used in another context. Are you really shure that you set the buffers according to this screen, under the section playback? 500 Milisecond buffers?

Bub, The HS10W works great. You just have to place it and adjust it right so you don't get too much bottom.

Bub, Bouncing in real time works so at least I'll be able to get it done. Thanks. We should refer to or change the name of Sonar X2 to workaround X2.

Glad I could help Mosvalve. W-X2 ... I like it. :) Tonight ... doing a simple tune ... kick, snare, hi-hat. Tried to Freeze Session Drummer 3 ... It went through the motions, showed the tracks being placed with the .wav data pictures ... it gets to the last track ... and deletes them all and acts like it never did anything. Wait till that one happens to you. This is the 3rd time I've had it happen. It has to be something I'm doing during setup of the SD3 Audio outputs but I cant figure out what.

somrtimes sonar makes me walk way, i get so confused. like tonight i was trying some dem pro scractch samples. i found a good one opened dem pro again to add another layer, Crash and frozzup 3 times i tryed it.
also movin the pencil tool in the vocal bus to fix a level crashed it the sameway. just some thing to rememeber ,on workaround x2
fresh head tommorow i hope brings the workaround fairy to my house with my coffee.
same project in x1 ran flawless. i always use x1 now its safeness

I had a lot of trouble with missing notes in Session Drummer until I change the MIDI buffer.  Hope this helps.

Note that I do not always bounce the drums anymore.  I export audio with "Include Live Input."
