Help with setting up the link to a song

Hi - I am having some brain freeze on this: How do you guys set up the link that opens directly to a song on a player - versus routing forum readers through our Soundclick link / page??

Thanks!

I've often wondered about that myself. I think, well, just guessing really, you need to have a registered domain and your own web site set up through a hosting service.

It's not a link to a song page that he's talking about, unless I misunderstood him. A lot of people post their song links and instead of being directed to Bancamp, Soundclick, etc., Windows Media Player pops up and the song plays. That's what I was wondering about anyway.

Go to your Sound Click music page.

Click on the song you would like to link to and the Sound Click player comes on screen.

Once the song player starts to play your song, if you look at the bottom of the player on the left there is text that reads "share"

Click on the text that reads "share"

It will then give you 3 url options to share your file.

Copy the link information and paste into your forum post.

Preview your post and check to make sure the link works as desired.

    Post message and all done.

Thanks ! Yes I was wondering how people set it up on here so that as soon as the song link is clicked, up pops the player and the song begins....nice if you want to have just one song heard, versus directing someone to Soundclick for a a larger playlist....

    Ok cool!
Now that you have that part of it figured out, I'll give you another way.
Once you have the share link copied from Sound Click, go ahead and fill out your post in Cakewalk forum.

But instead of just doing a paste of the url into the message body, look at the second row of tools in the message
tool. You will see a icon that looks like a green globe, right next to the smiles.
If you hover your mouse over it it will read "insert a link".

Click on that and a box will show up giving you a place to paste your link.
It also has a second entry for text, which you can type want ever you want, like my song, check this out, or what ever you want. If you are unable to type in text, like me, just paste in the url and click the button "insert link."

Ok, once your link is there, highlight the link and click the insert a link icon again.
It should now show your link info, and the text box should also show your link info.
Highlight the url info in the text box only and delete that.
Now type in what ever you want.   Like This
