If I had my druthers I'd be using Nuendo for mixing, editing, mastering, etc... and Sonar would be relegated to more of a creative tool than a DAW. Can't afford that though.

    "SONAR has dropped back some."

Any way we can get McQ back?

Somebody should tell Santana that Strats are far more popular than PRS. Based on popularity, bapu should probably give up his Alembic for a Precision.

And we should all be switching to Audition, because it's more popular than SONAR. Oh wait, Audition is a discontinued product. Damn!

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Wow... I am glad I don't use Reason or Studio One. I am not sure how accurate this is.

I think many people feel that they are so invested in Pro Tools that they cannot change and probably there are a lot of PT users who use it so they can say they use Pro Tools. PT has a big foot in the door, that is for sure. It would be interesting to see DAW popularity broken down by genre of music.

David Das said... This isn't even close to scientific. Perhaps as accurate as calling Justin Bieber the most popular singer because he's trending on Twitter.

Hypothetically this could also be spun in the opposite direction. People tend to google for things they need answers to or help with. So perhaps an alternate way to read it is that Pro Tools and FL Studio are the most problematic or buggy of all the DAWs, and Band in a Box is the simplest or most stable.

That's not accurate either, of course, but my point is made.

the "study" and graphs have been posted on these forums several times, but they're based on very poor "statistics" - search engines.  why would a search engine query really be a good indicator of "popularity"?  if we're talkiing about celebrities - maybe, but not sofware!

We should all set an extra page to open when we open a browser. Set it to a Google search for Sonar... then see what next year's results are, heh. (or we could just get Bapu to do it).

If the graphs represent Google searches I can totally understand why Pro Tools leads.

Most of the searches probably start with "How in the hell do I ...?"

Dave Modisette ... rocks a Purrrfect Audio Studio Pro rig.

It only covers the DAWs that Digital Music Doctor write tutorials for that they market.  As well as the limitations that DAWs indicated in searches shows, it's a pretty nonsensical chart all in all.

I'm not voting for ProTools, she's such a beach. Always hanging out with the rich folks but we all know she's white trash.  And FL Studio. What's with the FL? Oh I get it, it's cool to go by initials now days. She's a wannabe. Abelton Live and Garage Band sound just the grunge sisters they are. Cheap drunks prolly. I mean like, pleeeeasssse!!???!!!

    This popularity contest voting sux.

I'm gonna go to the city down by the railroad tracks and find me bad boy for the nitht.
