Here's a quick video on mic positions

If you ever wondered how much difference mic position really makes when recording here's a quick video that demonstrates a few.  I found it well worth a watch.

That's pretty good. I liked the "Weathervane" drum miking demonstration. Anyone who didn't think it was worth downloading SD3's room samples should watch it to hear what room mics do for a drum sound.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Good video. I like the adjustable mic stand too  I usually use two mics on movable arms that look like desk lamp arms. That way I can do a similar thing with only one person. I move them around until I get the sweet spots.

One thing about this video that surprised me was how little the overall sound was changed in some cases moving the mike and staying in the general location. Some of that might be a certain amount of room noise that stays fairly constant.
