Here's what's cool.

I spend 15 hrs away from home @ the 'day-job.

Weekends have to wait till Mama and the young-uns are in bed to set up and be creative (with headphones)!

Play half the night, tear down, sleep till breakfast and watch Curious George.

Head out for garage/yard/honey-dos till dark. Repeat steps 1- 4. BUT!!!

Vacation is coming; first 3 days get garage/yard/etc caught up. Next 5 days: IN THE STUDIO.

Get out every instrument ( yeah, all 8 guitars, mandolin, etc), mics, cables, hook up, power up and
STAY that way for 5 days straight! I'm fired up and ready.

Can I get a witness? Can I get a hell yeah? I'm SOOOOO there.

Yes! I'm using the next few days to prepare a schedule of events so as not to waist the opportunity.

I'll definately be having some fun along with some work. But it's the kinda work I like.

Hopefully I'll be productive, and be able to post some the results later.

I hope you guys get alot done- and have fun as well. ROCK ON!

    Oh yeah!

I've got the first two weeks in July off work to do the same I think I'll write myself a little plan of events to make sure that I don't spend all my time playing with presets or noodling on the guitar!

    Have fun!

I HAVE to make the list cause it's so easy to get to that certain step and realize, 'WOW, suddenly productivity drops to zero. Often at that point- the day is done!

And even with the list, sometimes the unexpected change of plan occurs. I'll try to have alternate methods in side notes as well as some bookmarked proceedures I may not yet be proficient in.

    Good luck!

Yes Bluesmeister, family is the place to be. I have one 20, one 4, and one 18 mos. Not to mention an awesome wife who is very supportive and steadfast.

I may have been quite overdramatic in my opening post, but 15 hr days also make for 3 and 4 day weekends, as well as 12 day vacations! (the 4 year old is my shadow)

I also like Curious George- very, very cool IMO. I average 6 hrs sleep but thats good cause the back gets stiff w/ much more. ( it also means I can see my wife and children before and after work EVERY day)

The main thing I intended to convey was my excitement over what these forums are all about. I'm still relatively new to all of this but responses like I have seen in this thread are very encouraging. I also find myself really excited about the other members' projects, anxious to share my work and hear theirs as well.

Right now I'm just really pleased to be a part of this. Thanks.

P.S. did I just get stereotyped??

Have fun and get a lot done! And yeah, that's my kinda vacation too.

But I have to disagree with bluesmeister--I've got a LOT more time since my boys left home. There is still someone else in the house I actually have to think about...but not three. (I still say those were the days...but thanks to Sonar I'm still having a lot of fun!)

Yep, I just got quite a bit accomplished last week as well. The wife and kids went to Grandma's house for the week (summer vacation) and I had to stay back and work. As you can guess, the evenings here at my house were spent tweaking and remixing some of the songs that needed new tracks added to them. I actually have 2 of them up in the songs forum. I love for the family to be arond, but it sure is fun to have some time to yourself on occasion too.

Before my week off, I had the drums/percussion, bass, and keys tracked.
During the first 3 days, I did all guitar tracks, and lead and backup vocals. I spent the rest of the time relaxing on my sunny balcony with cuban cigars and mexican beer (it was Canada Day after all) .

Entire 10-song project is tracked. FINITO!
Now I've just got to find time to mix it...

Thanks - I want to mix/master it myself, it's the best way to improve those skills. I'm hoping to get through a few songs today. Since the instrumentation is pretty consistant between the projects, I can use a similar template for settings (kick at -8db, hihat at -3db/30%left, etc) as a starting point and just tweak for the specific differences.

Hopefully it'll be on Soundclick within a couple of weeks.

Walker, I know the excitement! I just tore down my old studio PC this weekend after mixing a project, and will have a new dedicated PC back in action this weekend, where I get to test out some drum mic's for my girlfriend's kit, setup my Line 6 and Cakewalk software, and then dive back into mixing pre-production stuff for two days.

...I'm already counting down the days until the weekend!

OT: How do you like your Xaviere XV-600? I've been eying that one, as well as the 900s and 910s for many months now.

Hey Kevin, sounds like a great weekend (rain or shine) at your place. Of course you know I'll be interested in hearing something fresh from your studio soon.

On the Xavier XV-600; I'm pretty picky about spending my money- even on inexpensive guitars. After inspecting the first one, I found the neck PU was either routed or mounted
wrong. It was slightly misaligned and very noticable to me. The V and T pots were too low causing the knobs to scratch the finish. HOWEVER, I contacted them, explained, and arranged return postage for a replacement. I was not disappointed this time. I originally wanted it in red but it's not available with the 2 humbuckers and a maple fretboard. So I have the 'Monaco yellow', and have learned to love it. The pickups have a pretty strong output (Dream 180s -can't remember the resistance but its on the site) and have some warmth that none of my 'naked' humbuckers had. It serves as my Slimline Tele and definately gets the job done. Good case for cheap unless you tour a lot. Graphtech nut and string-thru body too. I love mine.
