Hey Cake.... Boston, New York...
Are you prepared for this storm coming today? They are saying the worst snow storm ever for Boston if if they could clear the snow, in Boston there is nowhere to put it. Hurricane force winds, maybe power out for 2 weeks. You need CASH. No power/no debit cards. BOA was suggesting a run on ATMs yesterday, not predicting it... suggesting it. Be safe folks!!! Julien

The worst part of it is, no matter how much we get, it will all be in my driveway. :-( The good news is the town has been pro-active, for once, and has been trimming back tree limbs away from the lines/poles etc. So, I have gas for the snow removal device, shovels, rock salt, 3/4 cord of wood and enough food for 4 days. All we have to do is hope the power doesn't go out or else it's just sandwiches. :0 PS. for that that don't know, don't buy those stupid clean sweep logs. Just throuw salt in your fire. It's much cheaper and does the same thing.

I'm in Boston. Everone seems pretty well prepared. Snow blower is started, food is in the pantry. Now if the electricity just stays on I might find some time to make a little music with x2a. (My gig tomorrow night will possibly be cancelled though...that sux...)

About 20 inches here on Eastern Long Island where i live. Supposed to stop snowing around noon today (Saturday) so I can start the clean up. Good news is very warm, almost 50 degree weather on Monday so that will help.

I guess I will turn to the Weather channel for a few minutes and see what happened. I know this must be a REAL PITA. Deep snow is something you want to see on vacation... not on your roof, driveway, walkway, streets, and everything else. I don't remember the year but we had some tropical storm blow up from the gulf. It caught most everyine by surprise. My sister was living on the intercostal at Sheel Point, FL and it caught her completely by surprise. Her house was on stilts. It washed away the car, the boat survived (I think). Then it moved up through NW GA and dropped about 3 ft of snow. Now 3 ft of snow in GA is unheard of. The divided 4 lane (hwy 41) looked like a two rut country road. I had a 4-wheel Nissan and still had to put chaiins on it to drive around. We spent the day picking up and deivering kerosene heaters etc. It shut down almost everything.... of course an inch of snow shuts everything here down and don't even thin about ice. People here have NO idea how to drive in ANY of it. The don't turn into the slide, they press the brakes as hard as possible and if the car don't go they give it more gas... not good. I really hope you guys (guys includes gals to me) are all OK. Maybe if you had "iced tea", what we here call "sweet tea" al year 'round... things like this wouldn't happen. Julien PS: I hope it wasn't too bad for those who are still suffering from Sandy... "cold and wet" without a private and cozy home to retreat into must really, really SUQ.

As expected. I don't know how much the total is here but I got 4 feet in my driveway. Grrrrrrrrr They built our neighborhood in the woods and left a lot of trees. It's nice in the summer with all the shade but it creates wind eddies that trap snow and it seems to focus on my driveway!!! :-( Thankfully, me and Ariens will get it all out of the way. I hope the people on the coast make out ok. They got or are getting high tide this morning or now. It's still pretty windey there.

I ended up with about 3 feet in my 8 car length drive way. Some drifts were higher. Thank god for snow blowers. There isn't really any place to put it all. I did keep power so I consider myself very lucky as many of my friends still don't have it.

Pretty sure if there was an award given for "most amount of snow shoveled in a single day" , my shovel and I would be top contenders. Scott G - I'm right outside of Hartford, we got hammered. 5 Ft snow drift in my driveway, pretty insane.

I have to give him credit though. He's about 70 and he's still pretty strong and does good work.

>Hey... you want snow? Come on over and take it. If only I could figure a way. I believe it was suposed to be ours in the first place but global warming somehow diverted the jet stream in the wrong direction messing up the whole order of things. The ice caps are melting. The polar bears are moving inland. The Northwest passage is finally open. The permafrost isn't perma anymore which is generating huge amounts of methane escaping into the atmosphere causing more global warming. The only way to stop it is to initiate another ice age which would inevitably cause everything to freeze to death. HTH

Marcus Curtis Personally I have been waiting for that global warming thing to kick in. I have been trying to help it along the way. Whenever it gets too cold outside I am out in the backyard spraying cans of hair spray that use aerosol. Just go out and drive the APD (air pollution device) around. That's enough. When they tell you to stop smoking, offer them your tailpipe and tell them to choke on that. When the Earth gets warmer, more humidity is in the air so when winter hits, we get hit with more snow. That's if it's cold enough to snow. Otherwise it's rain.
