Hideaway Studios - NEW Chromatrix
Lets see if i can beat cclary with this one Its been a while since we saw a major release from Hideaway. They are back with Chromatrix based on samples of a 1983 Rhodes Chroma. $25. Chromatix features a deceptively powerful layering engine which allows the user to create new sounds and textures with ease by selecting up to four out of a bank of 56 partial voices to be layered. Each layer has its own fine and course tuning, ADSR envelope, panning, velocity sensitivity, LFO and tone controls. This permits anything from huge pads to complex evolving sounds. Many of the demo instrument patches included are good pointers as to how some of these effects are achieved.

I have just downloaded it and have had a quick run through the presets. Hidaway's products are one reason I will not be considering the offer on UVI's vintage vault. This is worth more than the modest asking price of $25 lots of lush 80 synth tones with a masive amount of tweakability. In the UK it unded up costing me £16.50 including VAT. Some presets are very hot and I would tone down the effects on others (easy to do) but many of them make you just want to play. It uses layering with four parts to get the rich sounds, Of course I had to layer two instances

Yes, all their stuff is on sale. Stuff that's a bargain at full price is now a no-brainer.

It would not be hard to roll up on their website and say "gimme one of everything". Wouldn't cost much right now either.

Dan Wilson could make a cheesy FM string patch sound ridiculously lush. Load up one of the multis from one of his analog synth libraries and you won't know what hit you.

Loving it (see the Deals thread). Happy camper, since I didn't particularly like my last synth lib purchase, ParticleSound's DW8 emu.
