Totally awesome; I'm a podiatrist who hates high heels but loves sneakers ... haha!

A lot of great stuff going on ... on many levels.

Mellow Blues hook, ultra-cool lyrical hook, special instruments (harmonica?), Southern jammin, etc., and vox charms.  What's not to love?  There's a lot to relish in this piece.

Chorus elements are potent (when Phil switches registers) ... Yet the low registers are equally as profound as the high.  (Great job Phil!)

Mix levels and parameters are 'in the perfect zone', to my ears (10/10)

My six year old is dancing to this ... TBH, I'd have to say this is my fav of you guys by a long shot.

I really love this ... and will try to get Caleb to listen later.

This was a fun listen by all means gents!

You've got me humming that bass line Ed!!

Geeezz..can't remember the last time I heard this song, but it's like finding something valuable in an old trunk.

You guys made me smile with this one!

@mcourter - thanks for the kudos and listen. Phil and Paul did not pay at the same time. Just used bits from each.

@Tap, @CLEAN  - thanks for listening. glad you liked it

@Grant - we could not have done this without you. I've grown to like the harp. Someday I might just love it.

@Frank - we inspired you to play the song again? Fantastic!

@paulo - there are over 200 recorded versions of this song and you never heard it? We're honored that we were your first.

@Mark - thanks glad you liked it.

@The Bouy - thanks for the honesty. I'm still asking "What were we thinking?"

@Mr. Straummy - I figured you'd never egg on your own. It had to be an older boy.

@Phillip - glad you liked it. Just to be clear, this is not a CHB song. It just happens to have three CHB members on it but that was purely coincidental.

@Larry - got you hummin the bass line, huh? I gotta tell you it was Phil's rhythym guitar that inspired that line. The first word that came to my mind was "slinky" and I tried to convey that in the bass line. Thanks so much. Keep humming....

@mesh - thanks for listening

Hey, Guys,

Wow, amazing job on this very cool cover!

Dynamite performances by all four of you, and you've got a nice clean, wide, pro sounding mix to boot.  You can tell from the song itself that you guys had a real blast doing this.

Excellent work, gentlemen, have a good one!

Big thanks to everyone for the kind words. Sure was an honor to once again play with these guys always great playing with Bapu, if I had my choice of any bass players on the planet, I would stick with the one I have. This was my first project with Phil, he is a humble guitarist, but I agree with Bapu, that awesome slinky tone he used for that rhythm and tasteful keys really raised the bar on this. Outstanding job on all you two. Big thanks to everyone.

You know I haven't spent enough time on the Songs forum and now that I have my self-confidence is already sinking!! Such a cool song to cover, great performances by everyone and what an awesome mix!! Lots going but still plenty of space. Everything fits together like a glove - both composition-wise and tones. Loved it!!!

Great Cover. I've been listening to songs out here through my old marantz and klipsch KG4's lately cuz I can crank it louder and it cool to see how the bass holds up on songs through them at louder volumes since I have puny monitors. Bass sounds really nice and full. Is this the alembic f2b I saw in your recent pic Bapu ( I always thought that was a play on your actual name until above). The clavi tone sounds perfect for this and compliments the bass nicely when it crosses over it. Phils got a great voice for this. I don't know why but listening it made me think he could cover tunes off of BOC's "Tyranny and Mutation" with ease. Harp is nice and inoffensive. Dynamite lead and the tone fits right in. The song has a tight feel like a the band just whipped it out one take.

Hey rhyno,

Thanks for the listen and the comments.

Yes, we had a blast doing this song. Phil brought it up and thought "How? Why?" but when I heard his rhythm guitar I thought "Slinky, that's how." and that is what gave me the idea for the bass line. Once again I have give Danny Danzi kudos for being my spiritual guide for the mixing. He's the man for sure.

The bass was my American Fender P-Bass through my UA LA-610 premap. I only use the Alembic F2-B for my Alembic Bass. If you want to hear that recorded you can check that out HERE. The Alembic (and the preamp) is used throughout except in the first breakdown (no drums) and the acoustic section.

Thanks again. Stay tuned; we have another (somewhat) seminal cover tune planned.
