High pitch sound in the headphone output?

I get a high pitch sound in my headphones that is especially audible when only a bass guitar is playing. This is not due to a problem with the headphones themselves, because it has happened with any headphones or earbuds that i've tried. This has been happening for as long as I can remember, don't know why I'm only just getting around to asking this now, but better late than never... Anybody else hear this too? EDIT: Re-worded thread title.

Just wanted to add that it is not obnoxious and loud, but it is definitely audible, like I said above, especially when just a bass guitar is playing. Thanks.

"buzzes" are usually earth loops.  I get an earth loop when the vs-100 is connected to both a computer and a set of monitors that do not share a common earth.

Try and ensure that everything is plugged into a single mains socket, or remove the earth wire from the piece of equipment that you're least likely to stick a finger into (and remember - I never gave you that advice!)

Hey oy5t3h, welcome. Sorry if my description was too vague, it may also be not very accurate to the actual type of sound. It is definitely not a ground hum, it is a high pitched tone almost like a sine wave-ish sound that occurs as a result of low frequency song content, i.e. when a bass or a kick drum etc hits, the sound described above is generated. This sound does not come through the mains, only the headphone output. It sounds "digital" to me.

Im on a desktop. Apparently, this is not a wide spread thing and is just happening with this unit. It's an odd thing, never heard this happen before, though it's been happening for quite a while, maybe for the life of the unit. Guess I'll just live with it. Although it's audible, it's not the end of the world. Maybe one day I'll try to post a clip of the sound in this thread.
