Holy Guitar-Shaped Cheese, Batman!

Okay, so I've got a lot of musical stuff I want to buy, and I'm gonna be doing it one piece at a time with months and months in between.  I need a mixer, a good USB sound card, a mic stand, my old guitar and amp need to be shipped down, and I just need to save up the money for that to happen.  I need to save up money, you know, so I can find my own place and so I can fund my music hobby.

OR I COULD BUY THIS THING  http://tinyurl.com/7vlgtqk

This is the coolest, most cheesy thing I have ever seen.  I love trashy-sounding, low-quality Casio instruments that make annoying noises, and this one is shaped like my favorite musical instrument.  Plus it has MIDI.

Your thoughts, coffee house?  Looks to be going for a reasonable price.

Oh, and for the fellow lovers of low-fi cheese out there, I call keep-offsies.

You do? Then look no further.

It's got a broken key, and it's dusty from being in a cupboard for 10 years, but if you pay shipping from the UK, it's yours to enjoy forever.

You'd just give it to me like that?  Don't want anything in exchange?  Like money or items or secrets or... something?  You're quite an awesome fellow, jamesg.

I can't really tell what it is from the picture, but the mere fact that it's 10+ years old and that it has what appear to be drum trigger pads has my chin moistening with saliva (it's the sort of thing that I go to thrift stores and pawn shops and goodwills just to find)!  I really love crappy old keyboards.  I bought a Casio SK-1 and had all kinds of fun with that little junker, but alas its 12 or so keys were just not enough to mess around with (though I did actually use it in a song that my buddy and I recorded), but I digress.
What's the brand/model?  If I know that, I can probably find the dimensions and weight on the internet and find out what shipping would be, or at least get an educated guess.

    And of course, thanks much!

I's a Casio MT-640. Must be around 15, maybe even 20 years old, because I remember using it with Cubase 3. Seriously, I've been moving the dang thing around for so long, I'd be glad to give it away. I have no idea if it still works, and there's definitely one broken key. If you really want it, I'll find out how much it would be to ship to you. It's pretty heavy though..

I've got an E-Mu 0404 PCI version that I would give up on similar terms also.

The only reluctance I have in giving that away is that 64 bit Windows 7 drivers don't exist for it and PCI boards are a known problem on certain newer motherboards.

I'd hate to be giving something to somebody that will cause more problems than it would solve, again it doesn't have any mic pre so it wouldn't solve the problems that you are currently having in getting a clean mic signal into your DAW.

+1 on the Casio SK-1.  I've got one in the basement.  Just re-discovered it during a recent move.

I really enjoy it's maximum 4-note polyphony.  Makes you work harder on the arrangements!

This plugs in via USB and handels midi too. I used it to control synths inside Sonar X1. Works with any DAW and the best thing about this is it is cheap.

I've got my own set of moobs.  Great tone in the clap sound -- I usually layer it with a snare.

I checked the weight and dimensions of the Casio, and it'd be like 90 bucks to ship it to AZ.  I'll have to think about that one (I love me some vintage Casio kitsch).  Anyways, I'll meditate on it for a bit and shoot you a PM if I decide to go for it.

It's too bad about the drivers on the E-Mu 0404, I'm using a generic on-board soundcard right now and pretty much anything would be a step up, let alone a card with MIDI in/out and low latency (I'm at about 180 ms right now and it isn't exactly smooth recording/MIDIing).

If I hadn't sold my bass two years ago, I'd snatch up that V-Amp in a heartbeat.  I remember my brother had a little guitar V-Amp (not the rackmount kind) and it sounded really nice for what it was.  I love modelling equipment (always envied my buddy's Peavey Vypyr)...  Never understood all of the hate that those sort of things tend to get.  Anyways, V-Amps are fun.

Oh, and Tom, would you really let that firebox go?  It's the exact sort of thing that I need after my run-in with the Sony LightSnake and all of its thick white noise.  I could pick up shipping on something that small without too much of a wound to my minimum-wage wallet.

Well, I'm off to bike through the 110° F weather!

    Thanks, all :D

I am not worried about quantity. I am just curious thats all 35k postings in one night is a lot of finger tapping. if I was going to do that much finger tapping I would rather play my guitar, but I am just wondering what the secret is. glitch in the forum software maybe?
