Home Studio Updates?
I read in another post that Cakewalk will update Home Studio as needed. I see the monthly announcements about Sonar updates but have not seen any posts regarding Home Studio updates. Have there been any updates since the initial release?

Thanks for the answer. Will there be an announcement on the forum and email when the update is released? Also, at some point in the future will Home Studio have it's own spot on the forum?

There will be a big formal announcement so people will know. Since Home Studio is built off the core application of SONAR now and not a separate branch like Music Creator was, not likely. We don't want to fragment our user base too much. Though we're open to it if there's a compelling reason to.

yes, I believe you would want to keep Home Studio in the Sonar forum, there is much more traffic here than there would be in a HS section.

Also, Tech+Music magazine will cover SHS developments. It's more of a "Cakewalk+other cool stuff" magazine than a SONAR magazine.

Thanks to all of you for your answers. They are very helpful. The thinking behind the question of Home Studio having its own forum spot was (1) while based on the Sonar engine, Home Studio is available as a standalone product, distinct and separate from the other Sonar versions and (2) Home Studio does not receive monthly fixes like the other versions of Sonar. One of my worries is Home Studio will languish and become too much out of sync with the other Sonar versions over time. However, the answers reduced my anxiety level. Once again, thanks to everyone for your answers.

The thing is, for me, it is rock solid and even though I have Splat Lifetime I bought HS not ever caring if they ever update it at all. It works perfectly the way it is for me and that's what I'm counting on,, stability. SPlat and it's never ending updates makes me nervous. For $50 one does not expect rolling updates. If it has any bugs I've yet to find them. It would be fine by me if they only updated it every year. Or even return to the old ways and each year offer an upgrade at a price. If anything there are a few core features that are missing like the event list and a few dialog boxes are only half the options you get with Splat no big deal, but I certainly don't expect them to add pro channels or Melodyne. I'm not sure what you would be expecting to change over time. Who knows what the plan is. It's not a money maker for them but is a better introduction to Sonar than LE.

In review of that Thread you asked for missing features.. I actually for the first time had to install SPLAT on my laptop set up because I was getting held up by a few missing HS features that I now just can't seem to live without. The biggest for me now is the right hand sidebar in PRV where you can toggle and overlay different midi tracks. I hope they add that to HS. The other one , which I know won't happen is I find I like the BT bickwall limiter on my master buss for exports these days. There are many 3rd party brickwall limiters a HS owner can cheaply add. A year ago when I bought it I found very little difference when working between HS and SPLAT,, a year later there is actually become a lot of differances as SPLAT adds new features but HS stayed the same. Looking forward to an upgrade,,if it's free :)

I like that Home Studio is not frequently updated. I believe monthly updates will distract me. That is the biggest reason I keep looking at Home Studio instead of Artist. But, updates are needed periodically so Home Studio does not lag behind the rest of the Sonar family. The Cakewalk Product Manager for Home Studio has to walk a fine line defining how and what features the software developers will include and limit. That is difficult. I would assume the Home Studio feature set must be frequently evaluated because of the product's price. I am discouraged that Home Studio will soon be released for a year, about to receive it's first update and documentation of the product's feature set is not correct. It is difficult to purchase something when you don't know what you're buying.
