Hopefully Sonar X1 -> X2 will be as good as Sonar 7 -> 8 was .....
Been doing a lot of work with X1b lately and genunly much prefer the new UI - now I've figured most of it out, it really does increase workflow speed and producitivity - and it especially comes to life in a dual-screen situatuon.
The problem though ...... still ....... is that its overall stability / smoothness at higher CPU load / low latency projects is still not where it should be - even now, X1B 255 cant handle large low latency projects with the smoothness and stability of 8.5.3 - clearly the connection and integration between the new UI and the audio engine still needs some work.
This got me thinking about Sonar 6, 7 and 8.
I remeber when I moved to Sonar 6 it - was pretty clunky and gluggy.
I then upgraded to Sonar 7 and it was worse - I actually think Sonar 7 was the worst of the Sonar series.
However, then Sonar 8 came out and blew me and many others with the audio engines capacity and stability with large projects with low latenices - it was/is amazing.
From posts in other threads, it is clear that the next update is "cooking" - whether its X1C or X1.5 etc...... I dont know. But if the next *major* X-series release has the same quantum-leap of audio engine performance and stabiltiy that S7 -> S8 had, then the Sonar X-series will be a joy to use.
Imagine the audio engine capacity and stabiltiy of 8.5.3 being further improved and at the same time, having the new UI and features integrated into it - I actually believe this was the core X-series goal - I'm hoping we'll see it realized very soon.
