Horrible playback
I just installed SONAR X2 Producer on my MS Surface Pro 3.(Windows 10) Using a Cakewalk UA-25ex soundcard/audio capture. It's been a while since I've used a DAW and I'm rusty. My problem - when I playback there are horrible pops and clicks and the music sounds detuned. The sound is fine in other applications (e.g. iTunes) Is X2 compatible with windows 10? Where would you suggest I look for a solution?

Haha - you got it:) Welcome to the forum. I would love to hear how Sonar performs on the Surface Pro 3.

Hi Bruce, I'm doing lots of problem solving and not much music! I think I might need to update SONAR.

Aughhh! Don't you hate that? On the upside, Sonar has come a long way since X2 so you will be glad you did:)

With some setups (mine) you have to change the buffer size OUTSIDE of Sonar, then go back into Sonar with new setting. The buffer size selection inside Sonar doesn't seem to do anything. You may also find that a smaller buffer is best for tracking, and a bigger buffer size is best for mixing with a bunch of FX stuff going on. When the buffer size is too small for what you are doing, either the audio quality will go to hell or the playback audio engine will simply stop and give you an error pop-up.

Thanks Greg, those are really helpful suggestions. I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't even know you could change the buffer size externally :-)
