Hot & Annoyed

I'm hot.  I'm annoyed.

Even my little, portable A/C unit isn't helping enough (the thermastat still says it's 84 in here).  Good thing I'm not where things are REALLY hot I guess...

It's currently 100 out here in Vegas. I don't know exactly how hot here in the studio but obviously quite uncomfortable.

I was once in Las Vegas (in late August) when it was 122 F.  Opening the door reminded me of checking something in the oven, then stepping into that oven!

NOT for me.  It "only" got up to about 93 F here today and I'm dying.

This last week, it's been getting pretty hot. That being said, as hot as it gets, it's still better than NY. But I do stay in most of the time, and w/ the AC I'm fine.

We also have a cool spot in the backyard, where the sun doesn't hit directly. Combined w/ the ceiling fans, it's pretty nice. (That's an old pic and there's been some major work done but you get an idea.)

    Hi,

Said 97 here across the river ... and you were more than welcome to come over and piddle on all these computers!

    Nahhh ... I won't ask again!

I finally got the midi keyboard working with W7-Pro 64bit ... and it took me a couple of days thinking about it, but it is now just fine, and I was able to setup the sliders and the pods for the Jupiter software ... now I have to get the rest setup again. Was hoping to simplify it some, but it looks like it is not possible.

Took 2 extra days off and did nothing but sleep and rest and sleep and rest and sleep ... and only on Thursday was I feeling better and yesterday I even got the yard chopped down with the mower ... just before it hit 90 something! It was good to sweat a little!

I'm gonna dump that cheap (got it for free) Casio playabout, and am looking for a real synthesizer that is easy to learn and play for a moron like me! I'll probably indulge in one of those Juno Korg's or similar in the next 3 to 6 months ... tired of waiting for Godot!

Hit the ton here a couple of days ago...heat index 106.  And it ain't even July.  Course nothing was as bad as two summers ago when our AC went totally kaput and we were without any cooling at all (save a little portable I bought for our bedroom) for ten solid days only two of which were under 100 degrees.  Sheesh.

Course now our complete new HVAC system is a cool dream walking...utility bills are a trifle...bring it on, ol Sol!

Amateurs. I spent more summers than I care to recall working in steel mills. At the end of the day your clothes look like they were tie dyed. All the salt dries in white swirls. Nothing like a hot summer day while watching a river of molten metal roll by. Add hard, physical work, and you truly know discomfort. In those conditions you can die if you don't pay attention to your body. Water stations and fresh lemons and oranges keep you going.

As a result of those 25 years, I completely avoid heat when possible. And like they say, it's not the heat, it's the humidity. 90 degrees in New York is tougher than 120 degrees in the desert.

I was in NY once when it was 90/90. Not fun. Dry heat, like dry cold, can fool you into thinking you're OK when you're not. Frostbite sets in without you knowing it because you don't "think" it's as cold as it really is. Same with heat. Wet heat might feel worse but wet or dry, extreme temps can kill.

    You're at my parents house?
They are both in their mid 90s and if it gets under 80 degrees they turn the heater on. True...
I hope you cool down soon. Maybe you'll get a good song out of being hot and annoyed... huh ? BTW it is good to be annoyed... we need more nnoyeds.

I've done my share of time up in the attics in the summer times.

The extreme heat, the humidity, the sweat dripping off your nose & forehead in just a minute or 2, the insulation sticking to the sweat, but you can't really scratch it, or it will just dig in & get worse - yuk'

    I can relate.
