How Can I Get the Best Latency in Z3TA 2?

Hi All

Just a quick question.
Why is the latency slower in Z3TA 2 than in any other program that uses my controller keyboard?
Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere in Z3TA?

You should be using ASIO with a decent quality audio interface. Since you didn't provide that info, I won't hazard a guess.

Well you need to try WDM and ASIO. ASIO is not the best driver. you need to try Both driver modes and see what works best for your system.

This is the only way to see what works best. Sometimes its WDM driver mode and sometimes it ASIO driver mode.

Just to be clear, are you using Z3TA+ 2 as a stand alone application driven by your controller, or as a plugin/client synth  in a host program like Sonar, when you notice this? If in a host, the latency should be pretty much controlled by the host settings (buffers) and the audio interface driver latency settings. If the synth is using more resources than other synths, it should not cause an increase in latency under Sonar, it would cause dropouts if the buffer sizes were too small. If you set those buffers higher to prevent dropouts, that would cause latency.

It is possible that you are noticing a delay from keypress to sound that is not due to latency per se. Some patches have envelopes that do not ramp up until the key has been pressed for some time. The envleope may not produce audible sound at your volume settings until it reaches a threshold. Look at the envelopes for the patches you are using that seem to cause this slow response.

I've found Z3TA+2 to be pretty demanding in this respect. It'll cause dropouts when nothing else does.

    Hi All!

    I'm using Z3TA+2 within Sonar and I have a MOTU 828mk3 Interface.

I'm going to check my buffer settings because this latency issue was never an issue with my set-up.
Not sure if it's because of the recent download of Z3TA+2 or not, but I do know it wasn't an issue in the past (and I've had this basic set-up for over 12 years now).

I'll check the Buffer settings tonight.
I'll also try switching Drivers if that doesn't work (even though the WDW Drivers have always worked well for me over the years).
