How I have X1 set up.

Here is how on a dual monitor I have Sonar X1 set up. As you can see I have Ben's Sonar Plus and Panup's  Darkside Mod in use. This is X1b 244.

Notice that the track Inspector is on the second monitor.

Do you make use of screensets John? I'm a big fan as you may know, just wondering if you're using them.

FBB I have tried to use them and I like how they keep more settings then layouts did but I find them tedious to use. I want the same functionality that they offer with the old layouts.

So no I don't use them. In 8.5.3 I had a neat layouts setup. I miss that.

One thing I should say is that with Skylight and the multidock I find that it helps a lot in having different views available.  I like the multidock.

I agree about the multidock especially since X1b although it's still not 100& if the browsers in it. The ctrl-shift-arrow keys make switching really quick.

I use screenseets primarily as a way of jumping from buss CV to track CV as well as having an "audio only" track view and "Midi only" track view and probably the most useful of all is my "comping" view.

In that view, like you I float the inspector on my left monitor and have a TV with no CB, etc and track headers so narrow I can only just select the track I want, which is maximised.  I rely on the inspector to know which track I'm working on. I then have a really large working area making it easy to comp the various layers.

Because you have a Mackie Control like I do X1 seems to work a bit better for getting around too. As you say this lets one close the CB and still know what is going on. X1 was made for a CS and dual monitors.

I like how you use screen sets too.

Yeah a CS makes a big difference. There was a thread a couple of days ago where someone was asking about being able to ff & rew in ticks. I thought that's easy, simply because it's only M3+jog wheel on the MCU but actually without a CS I don't think you can do it, which seems rather bizarre for a DAW.

Nice set up. My set up is almost identical except my screens are flip flopped from yours.

I'm working on integrating screen shots into my work flow, but I'm not having a lot of luck with it. (I haven't tried real hard either) Old habits die hard. <smile>

    Speaking of work flow:
FWIW over the last 2 days I have pushed X1 (X1-X1a-X1b-build 244) very hard. 2 live sessions each 8+ hours. Recording takes, retakes, clip layering (sometimes 10 deep) loop recording, punching. I beat on it good. Fast and furious. Not even a hint of failure. I'm pleased. My system is i7 quad core 2.8G with 8 gigs of RAM.
So X1 has earned first place in my studio. It is my main software system now. 8.5 is being shelved.
The only nit I have is any project started in 8.5 and using Sonitus track EQ, that is opened in X1, and then trying to use the Pro Channel module, gets a message drop down box saying the Sonitus EQ is in use on this track. If you want to use Pro Channel instead CNTRL + CLICK on this box to delete Sonitus EQ. When I do that, it doesn't seem to bring Pro Channel up. (I can still use Sonitus EQ by double clicking the EQ display pane) I haven't really worked on this yet, so I could be doing something stupid, but if that's my only "issue" I'm walking in tall cotton.
Anyway X1 is here to stay.
Nice job by the Bakers after a rocky start.

The mod is Panup's Darkside mod. I did do a little tweaking for me. But it is the Darkside mod. The Sonar Plus is the 109 version.

BTW Sonar Plus offers much more then a few quick access buttons. The batch quick freeze is fantastic.  The ability to make Bitbridged plugins act like 64 bit plugins is also a great advantage. That is with 32 bit button all Bitbridged plugins will not stay on top and obscure the background. There are plenty of very useful abilities with Sonar Plus that getting it is worth the effort. Highly recommended.

I am awaiting the skin editor as soon as Ben and Pan get it up and running.

These guys have done us a great service.

Thanks for posting this John!  I didn't even realize there were mods out there.  I installed Panup's Darkside mod and love it.  Blows away the default.  Now I wish I had a desk that was conducive for 2 monitors.

Hey John, good to see SONAR Plus in action. Looks like you've got most of the buttons enabled and still room to spare - what resolution are your monitors?

I have my two 25" monitors set up exactly like yours John except my multi-dock has PRV, console, browser and staff view always tabbed. I was trying to think of a different screen set but that works perfect for me.
I think my next step is to install the mods and Sonar Plus with all the rave reviews.

You must be doing something different to me. I use a single 1920 * 1200 monitor, and it seems far more crowded than in your layout. Time to try and squeeze my old 2nd monitor onto my desk somewhere I think.

Ben I am using two screens; dual monitors. That is why it looks as it does. Add up the total space and its quite a bit.
