How To Double MIDI Parts (1 MIDI > 2 Softsynths)

Hello Everyone,
 
I am trying to double up some of my synth tracks to combine sounds from 2 or more softsynths, but cannot figure out a way.  I have 2 softsynths inserted and of course I can copy and paste the MIDI track twice into both of them, but the problem is, if I want to edit a note or replay a note, I have to edit or replay it in one track, and then copy/paste it to the other track.   

Was wondering if there was a simple way to have 1 MIDI track feed 2 softstynths at the same time.

    No, but...
     
    I can copy and paste the MIDI track twice into both of them, but the problem is, if I want to edit a note or replay a note, I have to edit or replay it in one track, and then copy/paste it to the other track.

     
    Copy one track, and when you paste it into the other track, choose Paste Special and make sure "Link to Original Clips" is checked. Then any change you make to either track will affect both tracks.

    I do the above all the time.  It's not as efficient as having Sonar route a single midi track to multiple synths, but it certainly works.
     
    I believe there are some freeware programs that allow such routing to occur, like a midi patch bay sort of thing, but I have not yet used any of those in my projects.

    If you hide one of the tracks, for all practical purposes in terms of both workflow and look, one MIDI track is driving two synths.

    Quite correct, Craig.  I personally don't mind seeing the additional midi tracks, so I don't bother hiding them.

    Or...use a multi-timbral soft synth...Omnisphere comes to mind...
