How To Make A Softsynths Instrument Track Mono?

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to make this bass sound mono (as bass should be), but when I add this softsynth, it keeps making a stereo output.  Some synths don't have a mono option, so I need to feed its stereo output to a mono track.  Can anyone help me here?

Thank you in advance!

Adam

Would it be easiest to bounce it to mono after recording?

    Hello,
Thanks for the response.  I guess i could do that, but I keep everything in MIDI incase I need to change something.   I am pretty sure there is a way to make it go into a mono track.  Just not sure how.

    Thanks,
    Adam

You could change the track interleave to mono or use Channel Tools

Which synth? I've yet to see one that didn't let you take one side of the stereo output. Granted, that could lose some information on some synth patches, but it's usually not an issue for bass.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

It sounds like you're using a Simple Instrument Track. For some reason, Cakewalk has seen fit to exclude the interleave button from the audio part of the track. If you want to change it to mono, you have to right click on the track and select "split instrument track." You will find the interleave button on the audio track it creates. You can then right click on one of the split tracks and select "create instrument track." Or better still, just leave them split.

IMHO, simple instrument tracks are more trouble than they are worth.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

    I agree.

Personally, I'd use Channel Tools. you can add just a very slight bit of width with this tool, or maybe move the stereo image just a few ticks away from your Kick Drum
