How about a crash reporter?

A crash reporting feature would be nice as my SONAR Platinum crashes about 4-6 times per recording session.
Because of all the crashing (in which everything that is not saved via auto-save or the automatic saving I have to set at every 2 changes which is annoying), I must stop and save the entire project every time I create several tracks (ie: song-01.wrk, song-02.wrk, etc etc).

When it crashes I cannot just restart it, I have to reboot the computer.

There is a crash reporter already which usually comes up if Sonar closes unexpectedly.

Perhaps you really need some help sorting out the problems with Sonar. The things you describe are far from normal as Sonar is a very mature and stable product.

If you are saving files with a .wrk extension then you are not using Sonar. Sonar projects are saved with the extension .cwp

Ha!
That shows you how long I've been using Cakewalk, my brain immediately thinks of .wrk files!!
Yes I'm using .cwp files.

The crashing thing is maddening (and embarrassing when I have talent recording in the studio).
I do not see any patterns, it's not using major CPU or anything, it just crashes all the time.  Freezes then turns white.  Then I must restart the computer to get it to work again.
I was hoping upgrading to 16MB of RAM would solve the problem, but nope.
Never have seen a crash reporter however.
I've been using Cakewalk since 1991 and I have never had this problem.

Sigh.

If you are using common plugins across projects which cause a crash that would lead to some likely culprits. Are you using (m)any 32 bit plugins? Many softsynths or mostly audio and effects?
I agree with Mudgel that SONAR is very stable and normally crashes are rare. Without knowing more about your specific problems I would say this is more than likely a flakey plugin.
When someone is in this situation (multiple crashes) it would seem that if you are busy, you feel that you can't take the time to troubleshoot and fix the problem - but if you add up all of the time you are losing each time you have a crash (and have to reboot!) you should quickly realize you'd be further ahead spending a few hours doing some basic troubleshooting to find a root cause.

Agreed.
What I am going to do now is, uninstall SONAR then reinstall it and NOT install 32 bit plugins, as I do have several of those.
This problem did not start until a certain update.  Unhappily I cannot remember which update.

If that yields no results, I will do a clean Windows install (and BOY I don't want to do that).

Uninstalling sonar is a rash move that's unlikely to fix anything. Why don't you do a logical troubleshooting session with us on the forum.

Well, I just now got rid of all VST plugins that were not 64 bit.
We shall see how that goes.
That is step one.
If that does not work, I'm not sure what else to try.

I admit I have been rather crazy with the Free VST plugins from the web.  I'm hoping that was the problem.

@Brando
Well, uninstalling the 32 bit plugins seemed to have done the trick.
