How big a difference is there between Producer and Studio version's synths?
If I want to use midi synths and instruments, is the upgrade to producer worth it for the extra instruments?
I would be mostly interested in addictive drums, the guitar and piano synths, but would these sound much better than Session drummer or the piano and guitar voices on my DGX 630?

I don't know anything about DGX630, but Addictive Drums blows Session Drummer away. I guess it depends what your upgrade cost would be.

I already managed to sell some old hardware on ebay to afford it which would usually be spent on PC upgrades.
No PC upgrades this year I suppose then.

I've literally been studying that for the last few days. The Addictive Drums, Trueamber piano and AAS acoustic guitar are the main things I want.
But the chart alone doesn't let me hear the differences, though I'm sure they will be better.
I also didn't realize that learning how to use synths would have been so effortless in Sonar. The tutorial videos and this forum made it too easy.

AAS guitar is OK I guess, but not as good as realguitar IMHO. It's also lite version. That said, from my experience of Yamaha guitar sounds it's probably better than that. There are free demos available for all of the things you are interested in, so I would suggest trying them first.

In addition to demos, XLN, TruePianos and AAS all have audio demos of their products.

FWIW, Addictive Drums alone is the full-blown package, and worth the price difference. The sounds are much more realistic and can be tailored much more than Session Drummer can achieve. The TruePianos Amber I do not use often, but Dimension Pro has some very nice piano banks in it which I tend to default to more often. Again, the ability to tailor the sounds easily in Dimension Pro is the reason. The AAS Strum Acoustic I have not used much, so cannot speak well to this, but their are videos on how to use it effectively. There are videos on these items... check around in the CakeTV area a bit. Edit: The demo recommendations are very good ones! Even better than a video!

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

Well if were going by Addidictive drums alone, on its own it costs £120, but the producer upgrade is £240.
But I see little point in going for addictive drums on its own when producer throws in lots of other stuff too.
I'll check out the demo versions of the synths for sure, and definitely would like to have the producer version, but just want to hear how the extra instruments sound first before spending that much.

I think comparisons of Addictive Drums to Session Drummer 3 are not quite apples to apples. They are very differnt kinds of programs despite both being for drums. Overall I would give AD an overall advantage but there are things it cannot do like import your own samples. In any case I think it is better to think of AD as an in addition to rather than replacement. To answer the original question, whether it is worth it depends on what plugs you own or plan to buy. If you are already planning on buying something alomg the lines of native intruments komplete then it is probably not worth it. If you dont have a lot of plugs and none are on your radar it is more than worth it

Yes I have no plugs or instruments other than the ones with studio and the ones on my piano. So getting the Producer ones added should be a good addition now that I know how to use synths.
I'm enjoying how much easier and better the synths are to use compared to when I was trying to record everything live through my Piano. Never again, that was just a terrible experience and made it too frustrating.
