How can I record real time while I am messing with the controllers on TTS1 (edit mode)?

hello everyone
 
I am trying to record real time on sonar x2 TTS1
in edit mode while playing with the Filter Cutoff Part01 
 
i would be grateful if someone could help me how to do this

    hit the W (automation write) button on the top right of the plugins window. Play back and move the filter - the movements will be recorded. after, you can edit the automations for accuracy if need be. Freeze the track, or bounce to audio to render it down.
