How do I combine Audio in X3?

Hi guys,  ex Cakewalk user here, switched to Cubase and now coming back and trying to get to grips with X3.

Looks awesome!

Quick Q, porbably a stupid one...

How do I combine audio tracks please?

Like, I will have a new bit of audio punched in but it will be sitting next to another bit of audio as a different audio bit.  Or if I'm comping and I split my takes up into bits.

Now, if I bounce to clip it all shows up nicely as one clip in the track but it's actually comprised of the different little bits. The trouble is that when I then try to insert effects for that verse it opens up loads of effects for each little bit in the track lanes, which I have to tweak identically.  Why can't I just insert an effect for the whole lot, that's *meant* to be combined together?

I know I can insert an effect for the whole track but I don't want to. I want the clips to combine into one track so I can insert an effect for the whole lot...

Am I missing something here?

Select the clips and use "Bounce to Clip(s)" in the Track View Clips menu. This should merge the selected clips into one

That is not what I see. After bouncing the clips, there is a single clip FX bin associated with the new clip.

Thanks scook I really appreciate your help.

Well, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I recorded a take of a verse.  I sang horribly out of tune for a few words of it so I thought I'd comp in another bit in the middle.

So then I ended up with a clip sandwiched inside the teh beggining and end bits of the original like so:

ORIGINAL:NEW BIT:ORIGINAL

I then tried to bounce all the above (which all live in take lanes underneath the track) into a clip, and it worked well so in the main track view I just have one seamless audio clip.

BUT in the lanes underneath it's still listed as different little bits.

My trouble is that if I right click on the track clip (which is just one seamless one) and insert an effect (say, compression), it opens three separate compression windows for the three separate original components of the newly bounced clip.  It just won't let me insert an effect as one clip as it doesn't recognise it as such, even though it all looks like one seamless one.

Am I meant to delete the track lane ones or something?

Utterly confused, sorry
