How do I compare audio samples / tracks in Sonar X1? (ABX Comparisons)

Good morning,

I have an obstacle I hope you can help me with.  When I get the opportunity, I make comparisons between microphones and microphone arrays.  I previously owned Sonar 7 PE, and I could easily compare two channels (or sets of channels).  I did this by soloing the first channel I would like to compare, and then selecting BOTH channels that I would like compare.  When I clicked on the SOLO button on the first channel, it automatically un-soloed the first channel and soloed the second channel, allowing me to seemlessly switch betwen channels (or sets of channels) while the audio continued to play.  You could also use this approach with the MUTE button instead of the SOLO button.  Sonar X1 does not perform the same in this regard.

How can I easily compare channels with the click of a single button, turning one set off and another set on?

Thank you!

Use the same procedure as you described, however, once you have the tracks selected and the first track soloed, just Ctrl+click on the other solo button. That will solo the clicked track and unsolo the other.

Or use Exclusive Solo. This was new in 8. There are 3 solo modes now. Solo, Dim Solo and Exclusive Solo. If you have the Mix Module visible there are buttons to enter these modes.

Or group the solo buttons, making sure that one is off and the other on when you do so. Then, whichever you click on, the other will change to the opposite state.

[Edit:] If you don't have any other tracks live, you could do exactly the same thing with mute buttons instead of solo buttons.
