How do I create or edit arpeggiator patterns

I've started checking out the arpeggiator in 8.5.3 PE, and I'm wondering how I modify or create patterns for the arpeggiator?  I found the ARP patterns supplied by Cakewalk, but I'd like to make my own.  How?

Sonar X3 and 8.5.3
Windows 7 64 bit
Digitech RP360XP/Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Studio Cat Pro laptop i7
16 GB RAM

This may sound stupid, but I find making patterns a snap in "Catanya". I use it as a VSTi in Sonar. Look it up on the web. There are several vids on how to incorporate it into Sonar.
