Show up and say "The world is a guilty place!" when asked anything.

And get a bloody haircut first too you look like a shower....now shape up and do the honourable thing.

Besides there maybe some bribery or sleazy corruption to be had here, always look for the positives.
I just got my haircut.

I refuse to shower though.

Bribery, errm hadn't thought of that. I'll need your soliciting skills there JB.

In one of the funniest Dilbert cartoons of all time (MHO), Dilbert gets summoned for jury duty.

Fellow potential juror to Dilbert: "What excuse have you got for getting out of this?"

Dilbert: "I consider it my duty as a citizen to serve and regard it an honor to do so".

Fellow potential juror: "Ah insanity ... hey, that's a good one!".

Hi,

I have not been asked or selected, probably because I am not a citizen, and have a green card ...

But all in all, when you get out there, on the first interview, if you come across as an intelligent person that does music and can only relate to notes, I imagine that you are not going to be selected anyway ... usually, folks that have opinions on anything including kitchen sinks, do not get selected for jury duty ... it would make the system look better than it really is and I imagine (Boston Legal fan here!) ... that most lawyers are looking for people easy to dissuade in court ... and intelligent people usually throw a monkey into the works.

Best of luck ... might be a good experience, although for you probably not as good as playing music with others. Speaking of that ... you have a lawyer or representative bring in your tour schedule and say that it is not pheasable to stop the tour! I'm sure it is not the first time this has happened!

I've served on a jury and consider it a great experience.  When you look at the riffraff that shows up for selection you can't help but feel dismayed that if you were the one being judged, that this is the best of your "peers" that could be selected for the process.   Of course its easier to just come up with an excuse not to serve.  But if you find yourself in the position of requiring justice, and look in the jury box only to see losers that couldn't come up with an excuse, too bad for you.

it was an incredible learning experience. Especially when the final verdict had nothing to do with right or wrong, guilt or innocence, but everything to do with the lawyer's presentations and skills.

Hit the nail on the head! I went when I was called... hoping to get out..... the pond scum...I mean lawyers..... didn't ask me the right question...I think they asked if I had a job.... the question the lady beside me was asked was the one I wanted....  anyway, she answered it like I would have and she was dismissed and I was chosen....

now... at the end of 4 days.... the judge didn't like our verdict..... he told us it was his decision to determine how much and what not.... go back in and decide all 5 issues yes or no.... and by the way, make sure it 5 yes or 5 no's and you all agree....  the guy being sued knew his butt was in the sling after the judge told us that.... I was accused by a fellow juror of being a racist because I had some doubts about a point in the trial.....

what a joyful experience..... and more over, the courthouse was in a really bad part of town...we had a police escort to our cars after the judge dismissed us.... hope you have fun.

VERY IMPORTANT: You must be careful of the off color and sarcastic comments..... a judge is setting there, and you can easily end up charged with "contempt".... besides they have been at that game for a long time and have heard every excuse.... those who get an excuse usually end up immediatly on the GRAND JURY juror list. The Grand Jury lasts a very long time..... your best bet is to get it over with..... answer the pond scum's questions.... chances are they will not choose you. In my case there was about 130 people in the room. They were choosing 12 people and a few alternates. If the pond scum let you go, you're done.... go home.

Never served on a jury (called to jury duty just once...) but I would prefer the intelligent, thoughtful people of our society be the ones sitting on the jury as opposed to the jury box being filled with people who couldn't think of an excuse not to be there.

I like how the juries were selected in "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" by Robert A. Heinlein. The first 12 people who walked by.
