How do I import Audio to Take Lanes in X2?

I have X2 Producer on a desktop computer for mixing, etc. I have X1 on a laptop that I take to do remote recording. I have recorded some projects in X1 with multiple takes on each track. I have copied these tracks as individual audio files on a USB drive for transfer to the X2 machine. When I attempt to import these takes one at a time using "file/import audio" into a project in X2 I have been unable to import the separate takes into separate take lanes in X2. They all just end up in a single take lane as a single track with all the audio combined. This happens even though I have added a take lane in the X2 project to accomodate the additional take. Can anyone suggest a method for moving the takes into separate take lanes?

It might be faster to copy the projects rather than just the wav files. Opening an X1 project in X2 will convert layers into lanes.

The project already exists in X2. I exported a submix of the X2 project for use in the X1 project. That is, it is a mix of guitars, vocals, etc. that was then used to add bass and drum parts remotely. Is it possible to combine the two projects?

Yes, open both projects in X2 and copy the tracks from the X1 project to the other. Make sure the Edit > Preferences > File > Advanced "Allow Only One Project Open at a Time" is unchecked.
