How do I move a MIDI clip to a precise start point?
I want to move a MIDI clip to start at 9:04:190. In 8.5 I would simply right click on it, type in the new start point value, click ok, done. In X1 I can't see how to do it. I thought I needed to select the track, bring up the Inspector, hit the Clip button and change the 'Start' box to the value I need. But when I do that and press enter, that value changes to something totally random - like 10:03:569 !! There are two spinners to the right of that Start field, but both INCREASE the start point value!!!! Is this all buggy, or again am I being legged up by some abstruse 'feature' of X1? I can do a workaround by cutting the clip then repasting it using Edit/Paste Special which brings up a dialogue in which I can type the Start value. But that shouldn't be necessary. I just want to know how to precisely postion the clip's start point as simply and easily as I used to!! NB: Yes, looked in Help. Couldn't find any. Looked in Scott's book and according to page 99 the 'Start' field in the clip inspector should work - but it doesn't for me.

StepD, I wonder if you could try something for me? I'm copying the clip (drum pattern) from another project, i.e. I've got both the old and new projects open. Things work as they should for a new clip in the new project but for some reason the bad behaviour I described happens if I copy a clip from another project. I've frequently done this in the past with MIDI clips and if it won't now work for some reason, and you find the same, I'll report it as a bug.

There were some bugs with setting start time and with the length reported for MIDI clips in an earlier release, but I think this was all fixed in X1b. I just checked, and it all seems to be right in X1b246 x64.
