Having fun with Sonar fellas, but it's not a simple beast to tame. P5 was a but a pup, but much easier to figure out... if I wanted to move a clip I just had to select it and press the right or left arrows and they'd move according to the snap-to-value.
In my mind it should be THAT EASY in Sonar, and I know I'm just missing something that isn't as obvious. Someone care to enlighten me?
Thanks.
Digi,
It depends on how you want to move/nudge it. If you want to move by beat values or subdivisions of beats, you need to set the SnapToGrid accordingly. The grid dialogue can remain open so you can change the grid value on the fly, and close it when done. I generally set the grid to WHOLE as it allows moving clips by even divisions of the whole note. However, I change it to whatever value I need if i want to nudge a bit.
You can also set it to time-based values, etc.
Also you can set "Nudge" values (it's actually a function in Sonar) in the Options settings, so that using the numeric keys will be set to predetermined values.
You can also use the "Nudge" Menu drop down (via Edit or Process I think).
