How do I place ISRC "code" into a song within Sonar Producer 8.31?
Anyone know how to do this? Also what is the Q channel? Here is a responce I received from RIAA about thje topic. Hi Larry, Although it is not necessary to embed your ISRCs, there is no special ISRC software needed. Most mastering software (such as Toast) allows you to do so in the Q Channel. ISRCs can be embedded in digital files in the ID3 tag. Unfortunately that is all the information we have on embedding ISRCs.

That code is embedded into your master CD. This is done right before your album is burned onto your master Some Info on ISRC codes

Sonar is not truly a "Mastering" program, it's a DAW. Wave lab and others like have that feature, not sure how it works for burned CD's always,, thought its was only for proper pressings and applied at last step of mastering as CJ says. Burned CD's are not really for commercial release. Talk to your replicating house.

Sonar doesn't burn to Red book specs, so Sonar cant do it. You need a CD burning program that does it. I use CD Architect. to learn how to do it in that, just read a paragraph in its help file. Each CD burning program that burns to red book specs can do it and each program will have a different way of doing it. Confer to your CD burning software's help file or manual Cj

Plenty of CD burning software will allow you to do this. If you don't want to spend any ££/$$ here's the one I use. IMGBURN - It doesn't do the ISRC directly it creates a cue file which you can then edit in notepad to include ISRC numbers. It really is simple and there's lots of support from the program author on the site with explanations on how to do many things including embedding ISRC. Of course buying a mastering program as CJ has suggested is another option.

Now, digital files with a ID3 tag, that's a different story! They can be added to digital files/mp3's after burning! M

FOLLOW UP I just noticed that in my Nero CD burning software in the page where you give the CD a title etc, there is a box where you can type in the isrc. That makes it easy

For those folks preoccupied with IRSC being associated with a master CD... I have copied this passage from: http://www.ifpi.org/conte...ndbook.html#Heading321 "It is stressed that ISRC identifies sound recordings and music video recordings and not physical products (‘carriers’) and that there is no conflict with existing product catalogue numbering systems with which it co-exists. Neither does ISRC identify a digitally distributed package, although sound and music video recordings included in such a package should be identified with an ISRC." There are very few technologies for embedding a IRSC into a .wav file... but the intention is for each recording to be identified by an IRSC. Here is some info about one possible technology used to embed IRSC into .wav files.... but it is unlikely many facilities will have the ability to decode the code: http://www.ece.uvic.ca/~aupward/w/watermarking.htm In the absence of a specific technology one can add the IRSC as a comment in the .wav files header. best regards, mike

Use any mp3 tagger. Create a tag called ISRC and put your code in it.
