How do I set up a Sonar plug-in with a controller and record?

Need a little help from the Masters.
I want to create a drum track in my project with the drums of X3 Basic using my Keystation controller There's lots to choose from. How do I set this up so I can use my controller to demo the different drums and then record. I've already attempted this to utter failure. There are buttons that I should or should not be pressing I'm sure! Thnx.

I have a video in my signature.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
