How do I unhide hidden tracks in SONAR X1 Studio?

I can't find anything in the Help or online that tells me how to do this, except an old thread from 2003 which tells me to hit 'm' and that will bring up the track manager. Which of course it doesn't. I can't find any such thing in my version of SONAR X1 Studio (build 185). I'll obviously need something more than "click on the track manager icon" which is the kind of "help" I so often find when I search topics, etc.

Thanks,
John

Shift + H = Show all tracks. Ctrl + H = Hide selected track(s).

And pressing H will show the Track Manager. You can also access it from the Console View menus under Strips or Tracks (I forget which one but it's there). It's hidden in a few other menus as well but those are the two ways I open it.

Just realized you are on X1. Not sure if the H binding is the same as X2 but it is accessible through the console view menus.

Colin, I have always been too lazy too learn all the shortcuts and just know a few; but those you documented will really help me.  The SHOW ALL and HIDE SELECTED will save me a lot of time.  I typically hide all the MIDI and safety tracks while mixing, but sometimes need to open them to fix something.  Thanks.

What is a "safety track"? A backup copy of a track?

Use the Control key.

Use Shift for selecting a range of adjacent tracks, just as in normal Windows keyboard conventions.

Glad it helped konradh.

If you PM me your email address, I have all of the default X2 bindings set out on an Excel spreadsheet which fits onto a single double sided sheet of A4, if you're interested

FWIW: If you have a track AND a console strip that you want to hide, don't forget to click "Keep track/console visibility states in sync" in the Track Manager menu.

This is true.

However, I usually like to keep them separate, as I don't want to see, for instance, Midi tracks in Console View.
You can of course easily create different views using screensets.
Any changes you make using any of the 'H' shortcuts only apply to the current screenset, so be aware of this if you switch screensets often.

Interesting. So if I'm reading that right if I change my Track Manager settings in one screenset then set it differently in another I can toggle between say having my "safety" tracks (as the mighty konradh called them) shown and having them hidden in the second?

That would be useful. I've never really messed with screensets much because I don't mind hitting the keybindings to open and close things, adjusting panes manually, navigating through tabs, etc because my workflow is never static enough to bother setting up screensets but this would make them worth a second look. Not that the Track Manager is much of a pain to deal with but it would be easier to just thwap some keys and get to where I want as far as my track list instead of poking away at checkmarks or dealing with having to triple check my selections if I were to use the Show/Hide selection bindings.

Cheers.

Yep, that's one really useful aspects of using Screensets.
For instance, I've got a rather large orchestral template (135+tracks)

Screenset 1 is for Strings, 2 for Brass, 3 for Winds & 4 for Percussion
Switching sets is so much quicker than collapsing & opening Track Folders

While screensets are very helpful in most cases, it can sometimes be a little inconvenient. I also don't want any MIDI track shown in the console, and in the above example, if you add a new MIDI track, you'll have to hide that track from the console in not only the current screenset, but also in other screensets, which requires unlocking and relocking of them.

Yes, that's one thing I hate about screensets - I would much prefer it if when you insert tracks, they only become visible in the current screenset, not all of them.

I've just learned from another thread that if you disable Strips > MIDI in the console view menu, no MIDI track will show up in the console. And the enable/disable is saved per screenset. Great!
