How do I use Dimension LE with Platinum?
I have old projects that need Dimension LE, and although I do appear to have the DLL in my VSTPlugins directory, it doesn't show up in the plugin manager or work in my projects.
Dimension Pro is installed and works, but that's no good as that's not the plugin the project was created with.
I can't see any way to install it via CCC, which is unfortunate.
I tried searching this forum, but got the usual "There is no record available at this moment" crap.
Any suggestions?
(While I'm here, I'd like to know the easiest way to get hold of Rapture LE as well, for similar reasons. I have the full version but need to open old projects.)

you might need to resort to inserting dim pro on the midi track. im not sure if its still in ccc.
that or you might be able to install your older version of sonar that came with it (din/rap LE)

Your best bet is probably to open up these old projects in an older version of Sonar that actually has these plugins installed.
If you can do this you can freeze them (or bounce them) and then re-open in Platinum.

Until Sonar offers a way to replace one synth with another while attempting to preserve the preset, replacing Dim LE with Dim Pro is not a solution.
An old version of Sonar isn't going to help; if the plugin's not installed, it doesn't matter whether I open up 8.5 or Platinum. And if the plugin is installed, it doesn't explain why Platinum isn't finding it.

Well it must have been installed at some point, otherwise it would never be in any of your projects.

I have both Dimension LE and Rapture LE installed on my computer for backward compatibility. I installed them from an older installation disc. If you don't have it, support can probably assist. You can also try installing V1.5. Don't know if it's a complete install or not but it probably is.

I did actually try that link before - it just tries to update DimPro, rather than DimLE. I'll probably just dig through my old installation discs, thanks.

Yes, perhaps that's the issue (although it doesn't explain why the DimLE DLL I have doesn't show up in the plugin manager at all.)

Was the dll installed or copied into the folder? If copied it could be the 32bit DirectX plug-in or regsvr32 needs to be run. If installed, maybe regsvr32 failed.

Kylotan, you could buy a Digital Sound Factory sample library that has DimPro LE included for free. The current cheapest looks to be the Volume 1 Yamaha Grand Piano at 20$. EDIT : I see that you already have some version of LE so you're problem may not be as simple as just installing a fresher version.

I dug out the Sonar 7 disk, installed Rapture LE and Dimension LE. Rapture LE now works fine in Platinum (well, apart from hanging roughly every 1 in 3 times I change the preset, but hey), but Dimension LE didn't show up in the Plugin Manager at all. But then I installed the 1.5 update - turns out the DimPro installer has a dropdown box letting you choose DimLE if you go 3 or 4 screens in - and now it shows up in the Plugin Manager. It spit out some content files somewhere on my hard drive without my permission, but I guess you have to take the rough with the smooth.
Now to see if I can update Rapture LE and get that behaving something close to tolerably.
