    1. Options/Project/Metronome
    2. On the Large transport uncheck the 2 metronome buttons.
    3. Use the metronome toolbar. If it's not available right click in an unused portion of the toolbars and select "Metronome."
    4.Click on Help/Help Topics/Index, type in "metronome" and get to know your best friend in Sonar, the Help File.
    Enjoy.

    On the Transport Bar (F4 I think, if you can't see it or select it in the Toolbars menu) there is a metronome section.
    Here you can choose to turn it on/off during during playback and/or recording.

    Hope that helps!

    please help

    Options/Project.../Metronome tab, then uncheck for recording or playback.

    A much much cooler way, that takes just a little bit more work (on your default project template) is to...

    * Create a Metronome bus
    * Route its output to your Main bus
    * Go to Options/Project.../Metronome tab
    * Check both Playback and Recording
    * Select Use Audio Metronome
    * Route the Audio Metronome to the Metronome bus you created

    Now you can just mute/unmute the Metronome bus and not have to drill through menus to do it...and you can easily change the metronome level.

    Still cooler...to subdivide the beat...drop in a tempo delay in the Metronome bus fx bin.

    Bear in mind that of those 13 people, some (possibly all) may only be forum guests and not registered members and therefore unable to post a reply.

    This is a peer to peer forum. No one is obliged to post a reply.

    Only 17 minutes had elapsed between posting your question and your "attitude" post. Give people a chance.

    If time is that important to you, you might find using the Help files quicker.

    RTFM

    But seriously. I like the large transport. It has all the basic buttons plain as day.

    Does anyone know if "metronome enabled" is default when recording is enabled?

    Seem I always have to turn the thing off, because it's always default on, and then I forget. Kind of annoying.

    Can a custom layout or even something in preferences be used to prevent that metronome from being enabled?

    Thanks in advance for any input.

    Its on the transport. You just unselect the metronone with the red dot ( not highlighted ). That should do it.

    This is something that you can save in whatever project template you use. For instance...open the "default" project template. Go under Options (etc), check off the metronome playback and record, and resave the template. The next new project that you open with the default template will have the metronome settings you want (that is to say, it's on a project by project basis...rather than a global SONAR setting).

    As for me...I just put everything I could want for 80% of my projects in the "default" project layout and ignore the rest. That way, I just delete what I don't want, rather than adding what I do want.

    (Sometimes, even if you R the FM, little details like this, don't jump out at you.)

    I saw this question this morning and figured why waste my time when you can easily type F1 for help in Sonar and type metronome in the index tab.

    I'll have to admit to having learned something on this thread (other than the number of people who've gone off their meds for the day). I've seen that Large Transport window since it was introduced...and never noticed that it has Metronome controls. Furthermore, I didn't know there was a Toolbar widget for the Metronome either.
