That's a long story to sort out ... step one would be to read up on input monitoring, "latency" and buffer settings (Sonar manual, your interface manual) and post your hardware specs (some systems are not capable of recording with low latency while others can go done to almost zero latency and hardware DSP monitoring allows for zero latency)
