How do you insert a track lane?
I must be missing something. I can't figure out how to add a track lane in X2 unless you already have more than one take already. And I don't like the new help system. No way to search Track Lanes that I could see. Thanks. Mark

There is a take lanes button at the left bottom of the track. Then there is an add button on the lanes to add one.

Yes, but when I click on the take lanes button, it doesn't create a new lane, even when I overlap two clips. I thought it would do that, but it's not. Should it?

Try moving the overlapping clip into a track lane. (Of course, if you want to add a new track lane just click on the plus button in the lower left of the existing track lane.)

Someone mentioned a week or two ago that if you record with track lanes it works great but if you try to "import" stuff into a new lane the stuff ends up over lapped in the primary lane. I think some others suggested that they had seen it too. Maybe there's a work around or maybe there's a way to do it that hasn't been made more obvious yet. I've been real curious about track lanes. It may be something that may be fixed. best regards, mike

No way to search Track Lanes that I could see. Thanks. Mark To use the offline help got to preferences-->file-->advanced and check "Alway use offline help" Dragging a clip into an existing one doesn't automatically create a fresh lane which is probably expected behaviour or it wouldn't be possible to overlap clips at all which might be the desired behaviour for some. What I do find odd is that with lanes open dragging a clip into the track puts it in the first lane rather than create a fresh one which is what I would expect. That was bought up by someone on here, can't remember who, but I don't notice it as I don't normally work that way, but I can see why someone would want a lane created automatically. Recording however does create a fresh lane, assuming it is set up for that. HTH

It may be something that may be fixed. best regards, mike I had this exact problem. In 8.5 and X1, I liked to comp takes in a new track in different layers. That meant copying/pasting clips into specific layers. This is a problem in X2. Often the clip will paste into the primary lane (or track above the take lanes, whatever it is called), but not into the selected lane. The problem seems random. In one session, after I closed and reopened the program, it worked correctly. At any rate, it seems buggy, which is a really really big problem for the way I like to work. Also, it takes two clicks to open take lanes (open track, then open lanes) instead of one click for the old layers. Another two clicks to close everything, and I also need to re-size the main track lane, since the track lanes are too wide at their minimum for me to see all my takes. Messes with my work flow. Right now, I am hating take lanes.

I would think when you overlap two clips that the take lanes icon should become active so that you have the option to view the clips on separate lanes. Now, I was trying this with frozen synth tracks, which might be the problem. It has worked on other audio tracks as I would expect it to. Thanks for the offline help trick. I'll try that. Mark

I guess I'd better report it so that it gets more notice/attention... Keni
