How do you upload pictures/videos to the forums?

Hi,

I want to upload an image and video to another post but I can't figure how to do it. I've tried clicking on the little icon for images in the upper right-hand corner that says "Attach Images" but it opens up to image URL (not sure what to do) or from Gallery/Upload which says see below but there is nothing there. I see lots of folks seem to be able to upload both pictures and videos. Can someone detail how it's done?

Thanx, Frederick

You want to obtain the link to an image file.

This is a the link to a microphone:
    https://media.americanmusical.com/ItemImages/Large/SHU%20SM58LC%20LIST.jpg

You have to copy a link from an image source and paste it in the image / edit image button under the word font size above the text entry box and your image will show.  Images will have the .jpg, .gif or .png extensions at the end.

    1. make a copy of the link I posted to this reply.
    2. place you curser at the location where you want to picture to show.
    3. Click the blue box under the word "Font Size" above.
    4. Paste you link in the box and click "Insert"
You should see the image of the mic below.

Thanx but I'm trying to upload my own screen-shots of Sonar to the forums which are just stored on my computer. Is there a way to do this?

You can't upload them here - they need to be hosted elsewhere e.g. photobucket, imgur

You can also open a G-mail account and then use Google Photos to add you own photos to the gallery.
This came from my Googles Photos collection.
    1. Crop, do limited editing from within Google photos
    2. Download the file(s)
    3. Re-upload to Google Drive
    4. Right-click the file(s), select 'Get Shareable Link', which will be in the format of https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uN8q2gBGICUjTP4IlRrjC2LrDfsrJpgv
    5. Substitute, 'https://drive.google.com/open?id=' with 'http://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=' & append the unique file name(s)
    6. Now you can use this URL to insert link into a forum posting

    Done.

Yes, I have google photos and it works well. I'm not a facebook guy, more of a voicebook type.

And... Jesse, I don't see any of your google photos either.

Thanx for the Google suggestion. I'll give it a try soon. It's very late, time for sleep.

OK, I had to make a slight adjustment to my Google Drive sharing method.
It should be all better now.

Yup, I see 'em now! And nice recording space. You even have room for a vocal booth, very nice.

    [tube] shareurl [/tube]

where the shareurl is the "share" url YouTube gives you when you click the Share button.

Make sure you change https to http.

If you use facebook, you can create an album, set it to private (so your friends don't wonder why you keep making weird screen grabs) and take the image URL fro there.

Here's how to post from youtube

If  the video link you post goes a bit wonky, and cretes a link nd not a video. Paste the line into Notepad, then copy and post back to the forum, an that will fix it.

I've had no problem using Imgur, But then as the Monkey said they all start out fine and over time could hold you ransom. Imgur could be bought out or even just shut down.  If you dig back through my old posts you will soon fine the ones I used Photobucket for, they are all dead links now.
I use my own web page for important stuff I then have total control. I have a hidden folder so as Kamikaze Say's people won't be weirded out by your screenshots of boring software stuff..

Thanks for the tip on posting Utube. I'm just in the process of screen capturing some tutorials on CbB so my band partner can learn to use it. I was thinking some others might find them useful.
