But seriously, and not to offend. You know a hit pop song when you hear it, and i may strongly dislike justin bieber along with all the pop music, but this is not one of them.

As the mother of a 14yo girl who has aspirations of being a musician (she plays guitar and writes her own material) I think the "bashing" on the web (and a little here) is terrible.

I get the impression that most of these people assumed it was a "professional" video to a commercial release and just another case of a record company exploiting young kids for their own profit margin.  Had that been the case then I may have joined in the record company bashing,  but I would NEVER be so brutal to a young kid.

For the record, when you consider the ratio of youtube hits and iTunes sales to the number of wankers that are bashing her, then she's doing quite well for herself.  I just hope she can learn to ignore the mindless rudeness and enjoy her 15 minutes of fame.

Yeah, I think I have to agree with MM here.  Karyn, I respect your opinion, but even if it were my own kid I would have to say that I'm sorry he/she's getting hit with negative comments, but that's the way life, and especially "show business" is.  I would certainly console him/her and his/her feelings, but I'm not about to say that he should be sheilded from it and I certainly would not lash back out at the negative comments just to "protect" my young.

if the negative comments were brought about because someone posted a youtube showing my son/daughter doing an impromptu video and was never intended to be "bought fame" then I would have the opposite reaction to that above and I would protect my young vehemently.

OR, if the parent (or other adult) FORCED her into doing the video and she did not want to do it, then I would lash out at those who had done her wrong.

The only talent I see in this video is that she is definitely an attractive young girl and she has "camera charisma."  those things are VERY desirable in and out of "show business."  And that is my opinion and I will always state my opinion.  you can disagree with that if you wish and I will respect that because we're diverse people. 

but I cannot and will not subdue my thoughts on her lack of talent/ability just because she's under 18 years old.  As I said, I wouldn't do that for my own children either.  Protecting children and sheilding them are not the same things to me.
