How much memory do I need?

I am using Sonar 7 producer and I plan on upgrading to Sonar 9 (when it's out) but possibly to Sonar 8 first.

I want to get a new machine and use Sonar 64 bit and Vista 64 and later Windows 7.

This is just a bed room studio for General DAW use, mainly guitar, midi backing tracks.
I may occasionally push the number of tracks and use a lot of Soft synths but I won't be setting any records.

I am planning on getting 6 gig at least. Will that be enough for a couple of years? I don't like making hardware
changes so the memory I get will be what I am stuck with.

You should be fine with that unless you're using lots of very large sample libraries.

Q: How much memory do I need?

Answer: So much RAM you can crank in into your available motherboard slots!
Then after that, when you are up running with your VISTA 64bit system continue add an extra 4GB “READY BOOST” USB memory to a free USB slots too!

I don't see myself getting some thing like the East West libraries. I have dimension Pro and Sampletank.
I am considering Kontact 3 and Omnisphere. But I won't use tons of samples in every project.

I only have 1 gig in my current system and it is working fine for now but I sense some changes coming with the
    new 64 bit operating systems.
