How reliable is Velocity?

I just upgraded my Sonar 4PE to Sonar 5PE, and took advantage of the S5/P5 combo. So, now I'm the happy owner of a lot of new softsynths.

However, the Velocity plugin makes some pretty horrendous noises in Sonar 5PE if I try to change patches while the thing is playing. Sometimes it even crashes the audio engine in Sonar 5PE, although Sonar itself doesn't crash. However, when this happens I can't get the audio engine running again until I reboot.

I've tried playing with Velocity a bit in P5, and haven't had the same issues. I'm still pretty new (and lost) in the P5 environment, but Velocity seems to be working OK in P5.

Have any P5 users noticed any issues with Velocity, or with Velocity used in Sonar?

FWIW, I'm running an Emu 1820, which has performed flawlessly since the 1.80 driver update, until I started trying to use Velocity in S5...

No problems with Velocity other than an incompatibility with SuperWaveP8 softsynth!

ITs not....go out and buy linplugs RMIV....wooohah ha ah ah ah ah a hah ........

    I joke...I joke.....IT is what I do.......

never had any problems with it either.....except in P5 1.0/1.5, when ever using certain synths...the audio would shut off. I thought they fixed that in one of the updates though????

I swear by it, but never at it. It's my main percussion machine.

DA, I thought this was fixed in P5V2. I don't have issues with it with ORGANized Trio the way P5V1 did.

I liked it enough to talk myself out of buying Battery2 (though the latter has way more pads available)... Never had any problems with it, in P5 or Sonar3PE.

Used Velocity with my Sonar 3PE, My Sonar 4PE, and now waiting for Fed-ex to Deliver my Sonar 5PE so I can check out Velocity in it today.

It's a cool drum sampler, but I like using BFD the most for that live drum sound. Don't knock Velocity at all, because I can get those drum sounds kicking with layering, adding some EQ, and then adding my BBE Sonic maximizer. to the Drum bus.

    Velocity is OK with me.

    Peace

Hiya Sinc - I use the same soundcard and run Velocity quite often in Sonar, in fact, I use Velocity almost exclusively...but i'm starting to warm up to REX formats. I'm not sure why you're getting the noise issue you speak of however since I'm on the same sound card and software and driver version.

Like Jamester, I talked myself out of buying Battery or LinPlug's percussion synth. If I need more pads, I open another instance of Velocity.

As for the noise, perhaps a re-install of Velocity would help?

I'm running the 1.81 Emu drivers, BTW...

I started up Velocity in S5 again last night, and had no problems... So, I guess I just cross my fingers and hope it doesn't happen again...
