How stable is X2

Im just curios as to how stable is X2 ? i was working on a project for about an hour and constantly saving. I wanted to add some more midi notes to another synth track X2 froze i opened the project back up and realized that the last 10 min of work didn't get saved. just so frustrating...

I find it very stable. I have a project with almost 90 tracks, probably just as many plug-ins, and it runs fine.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

Not very stable for me and i wiped my machine and started clean. X1 worked great on my machine so if X2 doesn't get better son I'm going back to X1.

It seems to be very rock solid....Audiosnap works great in default setting..very good for changing tempo of anything even full mix song....little bugs with snap setting display  and audiosnap editing transient....but overall very solid and the sound is perfect....the mix after bounce sounds really cool...

I'm on the edge too - I have X2 waiting in the cupboard... I just dont feel like drama right now. If it could be installed next to X1 I'd do it, but even that seems to be a contentious issue.

Since the quick fix it's been very stable here, even on big projects, loads of plug ins, PC modules etc.

It crashed quite a bit before quick fix.  Even though I didn't suffer any of the documented problems that the quick fix was aimed at, it still stopped all the crashes.

I have found it very sensitive to buffer etc. settings.  If I change it from it's sweet spot at all it crashes.  So I just leave it alone and it's rock solid.

Very stable here to, only really nasty bug I've found is with bit bridged plugins crashing and causing the project to get truncated.. as in next time you load it, it's done for.

Luckily I had backups, but a crash killing the project file is something that shouldn't happen.

It's not being unstable that's bugging me (har) but the bugs.. of which there's a lot lurking in the shadows waiting to bite ya.

Hoping next update squashes most of them.

I don't think I've had a single crash since I installed it.  It is alongside X1.  It is probably system dependant - running quad i5.

    Ludwig
    I have X1 and X2 installed on my system - win 7 64 bit, Intel i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz and 8 gb ram.
I installed X2 and used it for a couple of days, found it unstable (in my case mainly very strange graphics bugs) so went back to X1.

X1 is running as it did before install of X2 and is very stable.

The only thing MIGHT be (and I do say might as I think I may be being just slightly more paranoid than usual!!!) is there may have been the odd minor graphical hic up (jumpy console screen sort of thing) but I REALLY do mean minor.

To be honest I don't think if I were you I would bother with X2 just yet - I am busy at the moment and I could probably have done without the distraction of a few days wasted trying to get used to the new features - personally X2 is "retired" for me until first patch, which will hopefully sort out the weird behavior.

    Re:How stable is X2 2012/11/22 12:50:34 (permalink)
Quite stable for me. When I think back over the last three years or so Sonar has always been quite stable for me. I'm not sure that I can recall any stability issues that could be directly attributable to Sonar.

I can recall issues that were caused by external devices while I was in Sonar but to me that isn't a Sonar, that is the external device. As an example: my current rig can lock up if I am, say watching a training video, and using a DAW (doesn't have to be Sonar). This can occur very randomly...I can go for hours (days) doing both and it is fine. I leave the room, go to sleep, and come back and all input devices are dead. Only recourse is a reboot...could be me going to sleep (lol)?

But Sonar itself is quite stable, though there are a few items that could be called bugs or workflow issues that I think can still be improved upon. Such as I like the increased functionality Track Lanes provide but I think they still need work.

I found I had more stability issues working with projects started in X1. Seemed to be better with new projects although still had several crashes a night at times plus aload of weird graphical glitches. If stability is hyper important for you then I'd recommend you wait at least until x2a arrives and see how it fares.
