How to Unbind F1 from the Help function

Hello.  I am using Sonar X1 using Zoom R8 as a control surface. There are 5 keys that are mapped like the F keys on a pc keyboard.  ie: My Zoom R8 F1 through F5 function the same as my keyboard.

They keys have pre-define functions that I was able to map with Key binding and they all work except for the F1 key.

The function works but the help file pops up as well.  Does anyone know how to unbind F1 from the help file?

If you are using a usb keyboard you could buy a gaming keyboard that has extra function keys ("G" Keys) you could set those up to match.  Logitech makes a couple.

A Gaming keyboard is the way to go, but watch out.  Some of the gaming keyboards have slightly smaller keyboards--like logitechs' G110.  It is more like the size and spacing found on a laptop, tighter spacing between the keys.  But yes, with such keyboards like the G110 you can assign any command to the 30 "G" keys.  I have Sonar assigned to one of the G macro's.  And I use some of the other G keys to lauch the stand alone versons of Kontakt, Amplitube, Grig4, etc....

I am buying an Azio gaming keyboard just to use on our office keyboard.  It is fullsize, backlite and relatively inexpensive.

In SONAR Preferences\Key Bindings, can you bind F1 to "Do Nothing"?

did you try that?  it doesn't work.  F1 still brings up the help dialog even if you have it bound to "do nothing"

I would agree with you that if you did bind it to "do nothing" that it should act as advertised, or cake should put a disclaimer in the bindings that F1 cannot be bound to this function.  but the only way to work around F1 pulling up the help dialog would be to use one of the gaming keyboards, as has been disccussed above, which, I admit I have not tried, but it seems reasonable that it would work.
