You need to send the midi from PA9 to the soundcard where the soundfont is loaded. You do not load the soundfont into PA9.
The soundfont just provides another way for the soundcard to generate sounds when it receives midi info.
Since you are talking about drums sounds, I think it all needs to happen on midi channel 10.
So, in PA9, on a track with midi data (like a midi drum track), set the Port to select the soundcard, set the Channel to 10, and select an instrument. The instrument number selects a drum kit like Standard, or Jazz, or Orchestra, or whatever the soundfont supports.
