How to add sustain to sounds Dimension LE

I posted this first in the Sonar Producer Forum but I guess this is a better place to put it ?

I like the sounds in Dimension LE very much - especially the Garritan Orchestra sounds. But the sound ends very "on-off" with no sustain. Anyone who knows how to add some sustain to the sounds so it ends fading out a bit more naturally.

As an example: I have a Yamaha PRS 9000 keyboard - when I use the sustain pedal and release the key the sound fades out very naturally. When I do the same with Dimension the sound just keeps playing - as if I didnt release the key. Suggestions ?

You can change the ADSR envelope. Click on the button that says "AMP" in the Modulators section of the display. If there is an Attack/Decay/Sustain/Release (ADSR) envelope established for the patch (program), it will be displayed.

It looks to me like all of the Garritan string patches include them. Go to the end of the envelope on the right. If the line goes past the display, use your mouse wheel, or you can treat the bottom of the graph as a horizontal scroll.

You will see a node at the end of the Release portion of the envelope. Click on that and drag it further to the right. You can experiment and see what feels natural to you.

    Edited for grammar.

Thank you for answering me - but there is no such thing as a Modulators section in the Dimension version I have - perhaps this is because its a LE version ? There are at lot of parameters showing in the display, but I no access to them it seems.....

Yeah those features aren't available to edit in the LE version. Dimension Pro is now included with the latest version of SONAR Producer, if you like the Garritan sounds you won't be disappointed with the full library.

Sorry about the confusion on the Dimension versions. What I just remembered is that before using Dim Pro, I never actually used LE because I used the version that came with Project 5, which is closer to Pro than LE.

Like Chad said - If you're already interested in DimPro and using the Garritan patches, upgrading to Sonar 8 PE may be the way to go.

Seems like upgrading til version 8 could be smart.... But is the Garritan part of Dimenson Pro bigger then the one in Dimension LE ? More samples ?

The Garritan programs are the same in Dimension Pro, however there are more strings, pianos, ect programs/samples included within the factory sample content of Dimension Pro.
