    Fairly simple to do.

First, select the range you want to change (whole song or a section of a song). This section has to contain some audio or midi data. (That's the only weird part) You probaly already have data there, but you can make a dummy track if for some reason you want to change a tempo map that contains no midi or audio.

Second, go to Process, then Fit to Time. Then you'll see where it says 'Adjust to End at New Time'. For faster tempos, either hit minus until it reaches the earlier desired time or simply type it in. For slower tempos, hit plus or type in a later time.

Third, select Modify by changing tempo map. (you can also select stretch audio if you need audio tracks to follow.... OR enable Clip Follows project in the audio snap menu of the desired audio tracks and bounce them once you've settled on the changes)

Fourth, click Ok in the still open Fit to Time window and BAM, the tempo map speeds up or slows down.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for  the answer.
but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsHTvKoRzfc    At 5:58,please watch this.fit to time is not able to compress or expand the data,or do a rit /accel.  but not affect the tempo scale.

I think cakewalk need to make transform tool available in tempo view. That make things a lot easier.

You can easily change the tempo of the whole song or whole section Without affecting the tempo scale. Granted for rit/accel you can't grab the end of the highlighted section and Tilt one end up or down as Cubase can do. But, you can scale any section up or down keeping the original up and downs in check. See links to my before and after of a Fit to time.

As far as rit/accel. are concerned in Sonar you have to bring out the Artist in yourself and draw them. I personally use a Graphics tablet to draw tempo changes and Auto tune note blobs and pitch lines.

I agree it would be nice if the tempo track was more like Cubase (which I own) or like an Automation lane with moveable, selectable and tilt-able nodes.

Between Fit to time and actually drawing in extra rit/accel., you should be able to achieve the desired result.

Example: A client wants me to do a track of a popular tune pre-metronome days, I'll map the tempo map to the original (by hand of course for accuracy). Then the client wants the whole thing faster, I use Fit to time to compress/expand the Tempo map WITHOUT affecting the Tempo scale. Then the client or myself decide to add a fancy big ending instead of the fadeout, I hand draw rit/accel. as needed to achieve the desired result. Definitely not as 'slick' as the Cubase Tempo track, but it is workable.
