The install asks what language you want to use upon startup. I would think that you need to uninstall it and reinstall with the right language.

Agreed, you need to uninstall and reinstall to change language.

And... welcome to this forum by another Italian guy! :D

are you guys sure? isn't the language selection just for the setup program ?

i too want the original english version, but i would have to buy a different version and hope for the best.

so can anyone confirm that you can select the program language at setup, not the setup language?

I can confirm: the language you set during install is not only for install, it is also for the real program.

At least, this is true for Italian, English, French, German.
    Don't know about Japanese... :)

Well, 8 is a very unlucky number in Italy, as it refers to the maximum number of horses' heads that can be left in a regina-sized bed.

Hi guys, the key is in the sonardefaultmenus.xml file. I don't like the Italian version too (I'm a happy user since Apprentice 1.0 and Professional 2.0 win!!!), so to solve this boring issue I've ordered from Cakewalk another set of discs (at least this was the official tech support advice - phone call). However, when I've finally received the new DVDs and after a complete reinstall nothing's changed: still Italian menus despite of my choice during the installation process (English, of course). I was less than enthusiast ....! So I did a google search until I foud the key: change the italian sonardefaultmenus.xml file with an english one. In my PC the english version was installed here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR 8.5 Producer Edition\Menuxml\sonardefaultmenus.xml

    while the italian was here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\MARCO\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR 6 Producer Edition\Menuxml\sonardefaultmenus.xml

I've renamed the italian file .old and copied the english file in this second folder.
Now I have once again my good ole english version.

    Hope this may be useful.

    Take care and ciao!

All I had to do to change the language in Sonar Professional was to change it in the Command Center settings.

The Command Center did not exist in 2008 (or 2010). Please check the date of a thread before replying.
