How to: copy effects from an audio track in one project to an audio track in another proj?

Greetings,

Working Sonar 8.5 Producer edition, I have setup a track template for drums using session drummer 3, with seperate audio outputs for kick, snare, hats, cymbals, toms, etc. `

I have another project with live drums with the audio broken down in similar fashion and I really like the EQ settings and effects that are applied to those tracks. I want to copy those EQ and effects with their existing settings to the session drummer audio tracks in my template project.

So far, I have not found a way to do this.

It looks like Sonar will let me drag/drop to tracks in the same project but not across projects. I have both projects open with the track windows side-by-side.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Greg.

Copy the live drum track project.

    Open the newly copied project.

Insert the track templates with your SD3 routings in place so now you have the SD3 drums and live drums in the same project.

Shift and drag the fx's from the live tracks to your corresponding SD3 tracks.

When done save your new SD3 tracks with fx in place to a new track template.

Thanks. I discovered that I couldn't copy/paste the EQ settings so I ended up saving the live drum tracks as track templates. Inserting new tracks from the templates and setting their input to be the appropriate session drummer outputs. I wish when you created a track template it remembered the track folders. I had all my session drummer output tracks in a track folder but when I insert a track from the template I created for my drums, it adds the session drummer output tracks but doesn't put them in a folder.

Go to the Import Track Template option check Track Folders in the Import Filter dialog.

Your templates will then come back complete with the folders provided you saved them with a folder in the first place.

you could as an option just copy your project, then delete all (clips) from that project, rename>save, and paste your clips from that other project into it.

I regularly save all plug-in settings, including EQ, to presets, named for the project, and then 1a, 1b,....

And I have many track templates I use to create tracks, and busses, with all plugs and settings. Way useful.
